A 580 Super K weighs about 15-16k methinks and should be plenty for almost any job. The Super E was the first Turbo Cummins model, followed by the K.

For 25k you should be able to get a pretty nice machine. If you can spread your budget a little bit to about 28k you can get a very nice 580L here in MI and you will have a great machine that will hold its value VERY well and will be easy to sell when the time comes

I found this one that I like, too. Buyer claims it's a "turbo" 580K.

eBay: 580K CASE LOADER BACKHOE (item 200076500253 end time Feb-18-07 17:45:00 PST)

I never knew 580K's were turbocharged. I thought they didn't get turbos until the early 90's?

I believe only the Super K's were turbo'd, though this doesn't have the S on it, probably because it was repainted and they didn't put the correct labels back on it. This looks like a very nice machine, and although he doesn't mention it in the ad (maybe because it's not working?) this unit also has the factory AC on it along with the deluxe cab. It has the Case controls instead of the more expensive (and I think easier to use) JD controls, but that isn't uncommon. Looks good with the new paint, that's for sure.

That's what I thought.... it's really "loaded". the machine is close to me and if I could just unload this Kubota L-39, I'm gonna buy it.

Problem is, I can't seem to unload the L-39.

I think it might be "mis-decaled". I'm not a Case expert, but I'm almost positive that would have the 390 cu in case diesel, not the Cummins 4BT in it, but I'm no expert.

I thought the turbo models came out way after '87, more like '92?????

All Case TLBs starting with the E (I think) series only used Cummins engines. Not sure why, but it is a very good direct injection diesel engine, probably better then Case's own engines used up through earlier models.

There were a few Case 207 diesels that were turbo'd but they are rare. Once the Cummins was used (580E) they started offering a turbo with the Super E. The 580K was when Case completely redesigned the 580 and the K series shares very few parts with the 580 C, D, and E

So all 580 "K's" are turbo 4 cylinder Cummins diesels?

No, only the Super "K"s, or SK, not the standard K. These have naturally aspirated Cummins diesel engines.

Thanks, that's a big help because everything I'm looking at in a Case could be either. I prefer turboed for the extra TQ.
