Can anyone point me to a web site related to the history of JI Case? Just drove by what is left of the Racine Wisconsin facilities on Highway 11 and the former lake front plant. Thanks in advance.

The title actually would refer to 3 major (and several other ones consumed too) founders:

so why not start with the "horses mouth":
CASE IH

But google "JI Case" and you'll be buried in information!

Have fun! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Thanks. I tried all of those and they don't discuss the shutdown of the Racine facility and the human toll it has taken. I'll keep digging.

IHC has an interesting history. I started there out of college in the 1960s and learned on my first day that the plant, TRACTOR WORKS was shutting.

I lived in Libertyville, Ill for some time; in the shadow of the Frank G Hough Company, It didn't take long, after IHC bought them, that the plant started cutting back and eventually closed.

Unfortunately, it is the reality of the ag machinery markets in the Western world...bigger farms with fewer farmers. Bigger machines and fewer of those big machines sold. Thus, fewer plants and fewer people to employ.
