I would have to agree with those posts above that recommend taking it back and getting the correct box blade. The IH 826 is the range of 90 to 100 hp and would probably destroy a box designed for a CAT 1 hitch. BTW, the 826 is a great tractor, wish I had one...

I bought it used for $100....

I don't really want to take it back. I'll do some of the other stuff mentioned.

It's actually 61 drawbar HP.

I was actually referring to the PTO hp, which is how tractors of that size are typically rated. Keep in mind that 61 drawbar hp may not sound like a lot but this is a heavy tractor and weight equals traction which is something most utility tractors are short on. I am speaking from experiance with this size tractor, I grew up on a farm and have driven an IH 856 (just a hair larger than your 826) many, many hours. I assure you, if not used carefully, you will damage that box. That being said, having only paid $100 for it you really don't have much to loose so go for it. If you are careful with it and use it for what it is intended you may well be fine. Good luck!

I may stick this one back up for sale and take my tiem finding another one to replace it.
