Apparently, the US Marines have purchased some of these Catepillar D9 & D-10 upgrade kits to use in Iraq. The massive Cat D-9 was also used in World War II.

D9 & D10

Well that sure ain't the D9's I operated in Korea when I was stationed there in D Co. 802nd Combat Heavy Engineer Batallion many moons ago. Ours were basically a normal civy dozer painted green.

They also use a smaller D-5 size dozer with rubber track that can travel up to 35mph!

About 20 years ago I was lucky enough to get a tour of the factory where CAT makes the D-9, and the D-10, which is even more impressive. Didn't get get to see any of the military ones, which is really too bad.

I didn't get to see a D-11, but now that I know it exists, it is one my list of things to watch out for.
