Chain Harrow Outlets

After reading the many posts about the advantages of chain harrows for pasture maintenance, I havde decided to buy a small 4' wide harrow because I have a small tractor and need to go through some small gates.

I have seen 4 foot wide X 7 1/2 foot long harrows that appear to be exactly the size that I need. Most of the harrows are made of 7/16"" tines. Some where I remember seeing harrows with 3/8" tines, but can't find the advertisement.

My Questions: Does anyone know where I can get the chain harrow with 3/8" tines? Are they worth the extra money?

I really don't understand the question, because 3/8 is smaller than 7/16. Unless you're grooming sand traps, I'd be afraid of deforming 3/8" tines. Matter of fact, the tines on mine are 5/8".

You are right, Greg. I mis-typed. I meant 5/8" instead of 3/8". Where did you get yours with 5/8" tines?

I just got mine at an area farm supply/hardware store. No labels/brand names/whatever - sorry. Just a pile of them on a pallet in the equipment yard, tow bars on another pallet. All I can tell you was that they came in 4x4 sections ($75 each) that could be linked together in any length/width combo you wanted. I bought 4 sections and put them together into an 8x8 configuration. Tow bar was included.

Heavy buggers though. Glad mine were available locally, cuz freight would have been a killer.

Bought ours at TSC. As others pointed out, they are heavy, but not to heavy that our 16 hp garden tractor can't pull it. Plus, if you don't get a 3ph attachment that allows you to lift the harrow off the ground, you will need a place to store it that;

(1.) You can pull into and drive out.
(2.) Is away from where horses can not get to. You don't want them getting tangled up in this thing.
