Got fuel/oil container holder tacked and checked for fit. Had to spread the top bars a little for a custom snug fit. Drove around with it clamped up and everything seemed to work OK.

Took apart again. Another ground defense plate and brace for the bottom to weld. More welding for the tube attachments. Then another test fit and then tack the tube and base together for final assembly.

Wanted a holder that could be easily removed so this is what I came up with. It is a proto type that will probably change to add a chain guard and may be made out of all metal. Here is a quick demonstration link. Feed back is more than welcome. Thanks

Clever idea. Simple. Work on either side?

I would worry some about brush or limb lifting and dislodging during operation at times. And if you could extend either wood or metal to contain a plastic bar guard for extra cut/chain protection maybe?

Yes it will swap over to the other side. I agree it should have a scabbard for the bar, I mainly don't have to go through rough terrain to get where I saw trees but good point. Thanks

That’s a very good idea that could be adapted for many uses. A simple jam bolt(s), hand knob, could secure the mounting plate to the loader and still be quickly removed. Large set screw? Nylon tipped if you didn’t want to scratch paint.

That same mounting idea could support a tool box, log chain basket, gas/oil, hook or bracket to hold a bucket (like horse feed buckets that have to be tough), pvc pipe to hold long tools, and many others.

Just carrying a bucket of tools on a tractor is troublesome. I use buckets for carrying tools for plumbing, electrical, fencing, etc. Sometimes a tractor just needs pockets.

Got the parts welded. Now to weld to two big ones together. One can of paint done.

The ground defense plates were not in the original scope but helpful preventing damage.

Hooks are for buckets, snatchbock, cable, and loops for cant hook or other tools. Envision carrying tooling for different jobs, tree clearing, fencing, landscaping, water line repair, electrical. I can carry a bucket or bag of tools on a horse easier than on some tractors.

In the short rows to finish soon.

Quick and easy here. No welding. Easily removed. Never in the way when not needed. Ones usage and needs do vary however.

Hey I’m with you Mike. Done the same for decades. Harder with grapple but at least I can see what’s in the bucket. Others have lost or damaged equipment carrying this way.

Trying to find a better way. I’m far from a good welder. Enjoy trying. Old, sore, shaky, diabetic, trifocals, make work like this a challenge. Hope to inspire folks to try their ideas.

Saw this old, shed kept, horse drawn, McCormick sickle bar mower that had built in tool box in the cast iron frame and all tools to maintain and repair it at the scrapyard. Beautiful piece of function, engineering and design. That’s inspirational. We could do better now.

^^ X2. I like the way you think things all the way through and seriously consider all the input that is given.

Welding finished. In paint shop, outside in the driveway. Husqvarna orange from Lowe’s matches Kubota pretty good. Just takes forever for paint to harden in this weather.

I always struggle with this too. Patience will pay off. Let it sit for a day or more if needed.

My paint job is bad, big orange bad! The weather and my skills are a major contributor to the quality. It is my first time using this Rust-oleum product. It is half the cost of Kubota brand which I have used before. To be fair I regularly use rust-oleum high performance paints and other colors for projects with good results.

Problem with runs, long hardening time and most troublesome is the wrinkling. Gets worse with additional coats.
Probably should have used a primer with this paint.
Too many other projects repaint now. Last paint applied three days ago and still needs a few days to get harder before installing.

Mounted today. No modifications to tractor and bolted on with 5 bolts. By slightly tilting the six inch tube back can accommodate the chainsaw either above or behind the tube. Thanks dieselcrawler for the input. Helps carry the saw inside the ROPS without encroaching on the operator area. IMG_1400.JPGIMG_1401.JPG

No need to thank me, but appreciate the recognition. I always welcome input from others, as 2 (or more) open-minded brains are better than one to bring ideas to the table.

Your project turned out nicely, I'm sure it will serve you well for years to come... if the paint ever dries!

Paint mostly dry.... finally.

Loaded up!

Gas and oil for chainsaw. Container also carries saw wrench, round and flat files, sharpening guide, extra chain, and two wedges.

Multi tool hammer wrench.
Large felling wedge.
2- 5’ lifting choker chains.
20’ chain.
25’ chain.
125’ 3/8” cable with chain and slip hooks.
Snatch block.
Chainsaw.
4’ nylon strap.
12’ nylon strap.
Splitting maul.
Cant hook.

Holds everything well. Most of the time will just be couple of chains and sometimes the saw. Tool inventory will change to match the job. Much safer way to carry tools while working with the tractor.

Mines not as fancy but it holds my saw and I won't dump it out of the bucket (again).

Nice build! Like bolt on attachments. Better paint job than mine.

Anyone who has carried tools, chain, fencing or anything in their bucket will eventually experience some sort of mishap. Usually more than once.
