Chainsaws revisited and a few questions

Hey slowzuki did you know that the husqvarna 136 was built in the poulan factory?
It has a poulan oil pump in it and a few other parts found on that same poulan at wal mart.

Yeah husky gives the dimensions for the engines but they are built by poulan.

They are both owned by electrolux .

Honestly if i was going to spend a $179 on a saw i would spend 20 more bucks and buy the stihl ms 180c.

Don't get me wrong i am sure the husqvarna small saws are good but i found that there is a difference between stihl products and others .
after i bought a stihl fs85 trimmer i was sold on the products performance differences.

But i just thought i would put out that the husky and poulan are brothers in a sense just different colors.

Yes, I knew the Husqies and Poulans and Jonsereds are all made by Electrolux. I don't know what you mean about oil pump as there is none in a chainsaw.

The base model Jonsereds actually look almost identical to the Poulan Pro models.

The small husqies I have experience with are the 340 and 345 but they are a bit more $. The 340 is a nice little saw.

I picked my MS260 after 2 months of reasearch and trying out saws and still almost bought the Husqy 346xp which is another nice saw!

Then how does the oil get from the oil container in my saw to the bar? My repairman keeps cleaning something that does not exist.

Oops! Was thinking you were refering to the engine! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif Yup a lot of models share oil pumps. Getting crud into the oil tank cna gunk em up. I mostly get stuff into the oiling hole in the bar and have to clean it.

Some older saws have manual oiling on the bar, you press a little bulb like the primer. I still have a saw with that function, not terribly fun when you're used to an auto-oiler.

Slowzuki yeah i mean't the chain oiler but you were right no engine oil pump. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Not really hammering poulans pump just stating that they share the same in some models. a dealer that handles stihl, husqvarna and even has poulan pros told me that.

And yep my old poulan 3800 has both a auto oiler and a manual. they both work great after many many hours of work.
It has a lever for your thumb it's nice if you think your chain needs a little more oil .

I have owned a Homelite for 20 or 25 years.
Have never had to even adjust the Carb. jets.

Did have to replace the clutch and the chain sprocket once and a few years ago I installed a new chain bar. Wore the original one out cause I didn't know any better than to run a loose dual chain.

That's it for repairs,Not bad for 20 to 25 Yrs.

Lots of choices on saws, but my Stihl 026 PRO has been a gem of a saw with a power to weight ratio that is just amazing. It's replaced just about everything else that I have at this point.
