Changing a post subject Mid-stream

Am I the only one who finds this annoying ?? Is there good reason why a post subject needs to be changed by a reply poster ? If you want to change the subject, shouldn't you start a new post ?

Yes.

This is particularly annoying when I am rushed and can't spend a lot of time on TBN. I look at the last post column (right most column) to see if a thread I was interested in was updated. (Yes, I know there are other ways to do this. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif) If someone changes the Subject...

There have been numerous comments about this very thing in the past, so the "annoyed club" isn't as small as you might have thought.

I don't like it either. I think the subject line should be fixed. How about a sub-title line for those posters who want to take the thread in another direction (aka "hijack")?

I'm with you guys, I use the 24 hr mode as well and this makes it frustrating to follow a thread.

I like the idea of a hijack sub line.

You got it, I also think that a lot of people are in the annoyed club. A day or two ago, someone changed one and I thought about pulling a Gatorboy, but didn't :grin:

Now I know what happened to the "quote" and "color" feature. You make one change and it changes a whole lot of other things along with it. Sort of like when you change the point opening gap on an engine, you have to reset the timing also. See I can change direction as easily as a[color:green] chameleon [/color] can change color.... :grin: :smirk: :shocked:

Now I see that the little funny faces isn't working either..

I appreciated the joke. No offense taken, just a recent example of thread subjects changing.

PS the pictures you posted of the blower in action helped inspire me to get the blower.

It's kind of funny.. everybody seems to hate it when the title of a thread is changed.. and yet there must be people here who are doing this routinely for it to have become an issue. They're conspicuously silent. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Having said that, I admit that I may have been guilty of this.. although I can't remember specifically having done it on these forums. Having the option to do it made me think it was okay, accepted, etc. Sometimes a thread wanders way off the initial topic, and I guess I naively thought that this was when using that option to change a threads title would be appropriate.. in that people would see the message and know what it was *really* about rather than merely seeing what it *used* to be about. I see I was wrong, and I apologize if I've been one of the culprits...

I used to change the subject headings only to correct TYPE-O's, but that was only a rare event -- now no more jumping into a thread I think is NEW only to find it was an older thread just with new clothes. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
