Cheap Start to Reloading?

I don't particulary like the looks of that plated jacket shedding. A lot of the guys are using the coated lead bullets now. Lots of info on youtube on how to make them. You can buy them as well from several places.

I use a "bench" similar to a Black and Decker Workmate, but it has a solid fixed top and does not fold. Works great, easy to move.

Just finished loading up another 100 rnds of 115 gr Berrys with 5.2 gr CFE Pistol, 1.10" OAL, more flare on case mouth, and only enough crimp to set the flare back to straight.

Also, I picture of my set up, just for laughs. Right now, press is attached to a 2x6 and 3/4" plywood, c-clamped to a TV try table.

I'm thinking the jacket/plated issue comes from not enough flare, letting the case mouth gouge the plating, combined with a bit too much crimp. We will see

So, I've tried YouTube and Google, does anyone know anything about casting and/or reloading .410 slugs? I can't seem to find a mold actually made for it, and I'm not really sure how well a .401 diameter pistol bullet will fly in an unrifled barrel. Also, the full coke measures like 0.395". Is my only option for that to loaf 0.395" round balls?

lyman 410-859 should make a 138gr slug.

I believe they mic out at .385"

I just loaded up 50 of the 124 Gr Xtreme plated hollow points. 5.0gr CFE Pistol, 1.123" OAL with Winchester small pistol primers.

The Xtremes weight between 124.1 and 124.9 gr on a 10 bullet sample and diameter was 0.3545".

Well... I think my goal was to be reloading ammo with $150. I think I was at around $165 in order to crank out my first 100 rounds.

Since then I've added Lube, Lemashine, primer flip tray, and more projectiles, so I'm probably around $275 total, which includes having loaded right around 500 rounds so far, with components on hand to load another 575.

So, for $275 for around 1000 rnds, if you count only for cheap Full Metal Jacket the store-bought would have been cheaper, but not by very much

Is it realistic too knock out 50 rounds in an hour on a single stage if your using pre set dies with bushings? Measuring each charge with dipper and trickling up to +/- 0.2 grs?
So, it takes me about 2 hrs to turn out 50 rnds, measuring each charge to exact weight. Some times I might keep a 0.1 gr over. The scopes are no where near 0.2 accurate....
