Cheap Start to Reloading?

Picked up 250 Berrys plated, 115 gr LRN from Bass Pro today. I wanted 124 gr, but they where out of stock. Price was around $22/250.
Shot some 124 XTP over 5.2 gr, seemed like a nice balanced everyday kinda load.
I have noticed, I spend way more time hunting my brass than I do shooting, do y'all lay out a tarp when plinking?

I also ran some 4.9 gr and 5.2 gr 124 XTP in my Taurus PT111. Ran fine, but I swear I'm shooting minute of a pizzia box at 15 yards... about same with 124 gr PPU hollow points.
Try a different bullet or a different powder.

Hunting brass is a reloading hurdle.
Plywood, slip sheet cardboard (40"-48") and anything non synthetic. Few things are as disappointing as laying down a big blanket hoping to save your brass only to find it has melted and stuck onto the brass.

It was shooting pretty miserable with factory PPU too. I am also loading these Berrys and will try them as well. Been shooting with my Hi Point 995 Carbine a lot, and had 3-4" groups at 25 yards, off hand (I'm not the world's best shot).
I am finding my self wanting to pick up more and more stuff, this could get a bit addictive.

Get a copy of "Art of the rifle" by Jeff Cooper, maybe seek some lessons (Appleseed, local range Rifle class) before you develop too many bad habits.
Work on trigger, breathing control, sight picture and follow through from prone first. Then try sitting, kneeling before moving into offhand.

It is a good idea, until they invent the brass magnet.
It also works pretty well to have white small gravel, NOT grass!

Have a friend that is a known good pistol shot? Shooting rifles or carbines is child's play compared to shooting good groups with a pistol. Many pistols are inherently very accurate, BUT, they have short sight radius, and some have awful triggers, AND there is the man behind the trigger. You need about 20,000 rounds out of your handgun to start to develop some skills. If you could have a know good shot come in and try your pistol and load on some paper, you would then know.
