Tractor
JD 4300HST 4x4
Check it out. I changed my profile. It now reads - JD 4300 hst 4x4, loader, b/h. It came after 2:00 this afternoon and I used it until dark, well maybe a little after dark. I'd still be on it except I got cold and wet. Sure wish my wife had let me buy a roof for it. It was raining. It was still a good day. Cleaned out about 1' of horse dung, straw and saw dust off the ground in a shed and put some fresh chips down. It fits just perfect now with about 4" clearence over head. Also move part of a huge chip pile. The tractor ran great. The only problem was the forward peddle sticks sometimes and killed the tractor several times when I let off a little to get more power and the peddle was stuck. I'll have to check that out to see what's causing it to stick.

I'd post a picture but my scanner won't work. There's a lot of things in my house that don't work right. I think I may have had an electic spike.
Yah, I think I better stay home from work.
Can anyone tell me what position the rock shaft should be in when not using the 3 ph. I've got a b/h on but it's frame mounted. I notice my control is all the way up. I don't know if this is the way it came or if my son hit it when he was driving it. When he was out of sight and the tractor made some real grinding noises. Don't know what he did. He said he hit one of the handles. It sounds fine now.

Congratulations Jerry! I was at my dealer Saturday and saw the same machine on his lot, complete with the backhoe. Very impressive looking piece of equipment. I even got my wife to sit on it. Judging my the smile on her face a future upgrade shouldn't be too hard to sell /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I thought I detected a bit of congestion in your post. You better stay home and get well!

Congrats on joining the JD Green Club! Maybe we can take over from the Orange Gang!

As always, check the manual about the rock shaft. If I remember right your backhoe was not JD? On my tractor I put the rock shaft fully down when the backhoe is mounted. The only rock shaft position that I remember being "bad" was fully UP. Moving the lever all the way to the UP position and left there for over 10 seconds or so was a no no. On the JD48 you have to move to this full UP position to get the backhoe mounted but once things have locked in place the rock shafts are not doing anything so I just lower them.

Hope this helps...

Well, I stayed home today and did a lot of work with the tractor. I moved chips that had been dumped in the field by a guy using the field for his horses. I made one huge pile (about 20'x40' and about 10' feet high). The worst part was, I had to move the chips about 30 yards to a location that is some what out of the way. That took about 4 hrs of steady pushing chips. With the bucket full I could push another 1-2 buckets full in front . The tractor performed well. It did come off rpms 3 time for no reason. It just kind of almost died and then it would come back just as fast. Don't know what that could be. The forward peddle is still sticking and I killed the engine several times because of it. I also tried to clear and straighten the small road that goes uphill into the woods. It worked ok but kept hitting water and making a mess. I think that project will have to waite until the ground has dried out some.
I have a 47 b/h and I haven't even taken out the pins yet. I put the rock shaft all the way forward today and the tractor ran the same. Got to thinking, with the b/h hooked up, there's no hydro pressure to the rock shaft since the b/h uses the power beyond.
I thought about taking the b/h off when I moved all those chips but found that with it on, the tractor seems to be all one machine very well balanced.
All said, it was a pretty good day.
