If price for both trucks were close to being the same id start shopping dealers. You're going to have to deal with them for warranty and recall work anyhow. My local Ford dealers are awful, just awful and they've never sold me a truck and probably never will and that has nothing to do with ford trucks. I'm not too hung up on brand loyalty but I am all about a good dealer and the GM people are as good as I'm gonna do around here. They're country people with no fast tricks up their sleeves but they can be slow in the service shop sometimes. So the trade off is honest and slow or get your truck back fast and be shady, what a pickle huh? Shop dealers! You'll thank me later.

That is the way it is here too. A good dealer is worth it.

I am looking at buying a 2015 3/4 ton gas 4x4 truck for work. I will not be driving it my employees will so I really don't care a whole lot about ride, features, etc. What I am concerned with is which is more likely to hold up longer and give me less problems.

The truck will be used to pull trailers 5,000 - 10,000lb maybe 1000 miles a month. The rest of the time it will be practically empty shuttling 4 guys back and forth from jobsites and just parked at the jobsites during the day.

Any advice or is it really just a matter of personal preference?

Definitely stay away from diesels. I think you have it: go with preferences for amenities unless you are going to snow plow. Snow plowing with GM is cracking their frames up here in MN.

I could be wrong, but I think Chris was alluding to modern 1/2 tons being capable (w. certain option packages) of towing 10,000#.

Ford has a F150 HD package in their 162" chassis and I think 157" package. Basically the rebirth of their heavy half-ton. The new 2015s has uprated states due to the truck being 700 pounds lighter from making all the body panels out of aluminum, sort of like the F150 Range Rover edition.

The big thing about towing 10,000 pounds is brakes. My F150 will do it, but I would use brakes up more often than a 3/4 ton.

We own four Chevys and a Ford. But a buddy works for Ford and says the new model with aluminum body panels is going to kick everyone else to the curb.

And, to even save more weight to be able to tow more, be sure to buy a solid, CNC machined, 6061-t6 aluminum 2" hitch ball. You can really tell the difference!
