Here's the response I got from a long time tractor dealer who has sold and serviced a bunch of these.

"The lower jack shaft may have slid in the bearing blocks some. Did you loosen the 6mm set
screws in the pillow block collars to see if you can drift the whole shaft the 1/2"??? Failing that
,if you loosen or remove the (3) 13mm bolts in the rear of the drive pulley you can remove the pulley.
With the pulley housing removed the collet will expand enough to slide on the jack shaft. The pulleys
are friction fits on both shafts. Sounds like something slipped here."

So the 1st section was the picture that I posted, I haven't even looked at how the drive pulley removal works. I'll take a look at it tomorrow.

You won't have time to look at it tomorrow...... did you forget that your presence is requested in Sturbridge at noon???? It is the CT TBN group meeting... actually, we will have to do a name change to CT/MA TBN ..... Hope to see a lot more people make it tomorrow.....

DIYGuy,

Thanks for posting this problem over at the CTOA website for me. I was trying to figure out how to register when I noticed that you already posted the issue....thx a bunch.

I have noticed that the pulley key on the lower jackshaft is sticking out about the same amount that the pulleys are misaligned. I will try pulling the pulley as soon as I can round up a pulley puller.

Thx again,
Mike

Guys,
I may be nuts but I believe no one has actually revealed the name of this chipper! I now know that it is too heavy for my tractor but I want to look and see if the company makes a smaller one that still has the auto feed feature. Anyone got a web site for it. Thanks, BW

Jinma manufactures the chipper. They make a 4" model and a 6" model, named "Model 4" and "Model 6". They also go by the names JM-004 and JM-006. I have never seen anybody get a 4" model. Only pictures. My experience is limited to my own Model 6.

The Jinma 224 can handle the 6" chipper. The tractor weighs just under 3000 lbs. with a 3 cyl 80mm bore 22hp motor.

I just updated my web article on the chipper to include more detail on blade removal.

FWIW, I'm not a dealer, just a happy gentleman farmer in the current vernacular.

DIYGuy, you made a good, helpful web article - But, wondering it didn't come with a user manual?

Well I can answer that one...and save DIYGuy from having to be modest. Yes it does come with a manual and for a Chinese product it isn't the worst I've seen. However, DIYGuy has done a terrific job of adding his experience to the mix as well as filling in some of the "gaps" in the manual. Anyone ever bought anything and said "Wow, this is a great manual"? Probably not. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanks. Was only wondering whether it comes with a manual or not. Yes, he DIYGuy did a good work by publishing his experiences on the web. Changing a part, correcting an error or adding a missed item is much easier on a web manual than a printed hardcopy manual. I think printed hardcopy manuals should disappear after this web thing.

Actually, I didn't get a manual with mine and from what I've been told, I didn't miss much.
