I would not pay more than $4500 for the package you mentioned, YM2000, box, and cutter. And at that price it better a top knotch tractor. Find out about their so called reconditioning process.

A few months ago I came across the website (I don't remember what it was) of the owner of a Chinese tractor (I think it was a Jinma) owner. He had just purchased his second, after selling the one he had owned for a year. He included a long list of the spare parts he had bought at the same time. It looked to me like he did not consider it to be a very reliable machine.

A properly maintained diesel engine can accumulate thousands of hours.

I've seen diesel equipment from the late 60's with 5000 hours on them.. and reportedly no rebuild..

I'm sure typical use is probably half that or more toward 3k+

Generally a diesel farm tractor is expected get 4-5000 hours to an overhaul. I have 2 tractors with over 9000 hours on them. They have been overhauled.

regarding your price quote - keep shopping. That is a lot of money for a 2wd tractor, I would look for a better deal elsewhere. Be so cautious of the reconditioned tractors, too. They look so nice, break so quickly.... /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Often they are just slapped together with whatever parts are around, painted up really nice. Keep working the net, you will find a good 2000 from an honest bloke. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Just bought a YM2000 w/ 16' double axle trailer, 4' box blade, cutter, disk, and boom pole. The tractor had 1100 hrs. Paid $6k including tax. Researched many months while saving for the tractor and found out that parts are available.

I would ask for a copy of the warranty in writing. It is definitely not a national warranty, make sure he is not mis-leading you. One of the problems out there in the market is that some dealers lead you to believe that you can go anywhere with the tractor, and that is simply not the case. Allot of owners of grey market and older american tractors tend to be tinkerers(not sure if that is a word?) or fairly self sufficient and alot of us do our own repairs simply because we enjoy it(no one touches my D3250 but me... probably why my repairs take twice as long). As long as you don't mind turing a wrench once and a while they are great tractors and you can learn a ton, although it seems you may be making an equal number of repairs on a jinma if you read the boards. The folks here in this forum will always support you with Yanmar questions and repair tips.

As far as the YM2000 it is the honda accord of tractors, dependable, simple 2 cyclinder, very versitile, and parts are very easy to come by. Not sure if anyone in this forum would recommend a Jinma. I have never owned one so I really can't help you there. However, I can tell you a YM2000 is a great choice.
