Not sure how you can survive falling into a chipper. JJ what is a porcuppine type of chipper?
What ever happened, this guy now belongs to a very small elite club!

I would assume that it is called a porcupine chipper because it has long spikes that break bark into smaller chips.

It sounds something like a "tub grinder", if you google that there are Youtubes showing them in action.

Mans very lucky to be alive. At work, the first thing everybody would do is talk about ways to prevent such and accident from happening again. Rules are usually written in blood and somebody has to be hurt bad or die before anything is changed. Thing is OSHA already has rules in place to prevent this from happening. The one rule that comes to mind is Lock out Tag out. If before going into the machine to clear whatever was stopping it from working, he had Locked it and Tagged it to prevent it from being operated, he probably wouldnt have gotten a scratch. Maybe I sound like the safety police, but I have seen way to many people get life changing injuries and lost of life simply because they took short cuts.

Movie Fargo s a good safety movie for any chipper. The bloody mess discharging demonstrates what can happen if you are caught. The blond headed Swede was working safely using a 2 x 4, long enough to keep him well away from the feed mechanism, to press his buddy's leg into the chipper.

WOW , totally forgot about that movie, but yes your right . I guess I wasn't thinking about safety when I saw that happen in the movie.

Would not climb in that thing if it had no electricity even attached. Ouch to the max!
