A bit of both. Bought the trailer from Country Mfg., and added my own cylinder, valve, lines, etc.

It's a nice setup, though. Comes pre-configured to accept a cylinder, and the amount of repair or modifications it's needed over the years has been pretty minimal.

We bought a Wood Max. Love it. I have a Mahindra Max 28xl and the chipper chewed through a 7" oak tree with no problem. Easy to maintain. Order extra belts and blades. I have neve had to replace them yet, but it's calming to know you have them.

I've had two Wallenstein PTO chippers. First was the BX42S - now the BX62S. Wallenstein makes a superior chipper. The BX62S is powered with my 62hp Kubota M6040.

I ran a Wallenstein BX42 on my Kubota L-4600. That thing was a beast and a joy to use. In my case, I chipped mainly Cottonwood branches up to 4 inches in diameter with ease.

Like a chainsaw, the key to happiness and efficiency is sharp blades or chainsaw loop in the case of a chainsaw.

I have a Woodland Mills 8”, their largest unit on a JD955. Use it exactly like you do, and it works great. Very well built unit. Not sure about Woodmax and others, but whatever you do get a bigger throat like at least 8” and hydraulic feed.

yeah. As noted, that's what I do all winter. But the amount of green garden waste this property generates, and a neighbor being downwind of the most sensible location for my burn pit, dictates I find a better solution for those months when neighbors might be keeping their windows open.

I got me a Woodland Mills WC88 the other week - currently running it on a Kubota L4200 and it does just fine - I mainly wanted the 8" capacity so it could suck in large branches without requiring trimming first. I had been thinking the self-contained hydraulic setup was a bit of a waste as I could just use the tractor's remotes, but thinking further, I also plan to use it at another property off an Antonio Carraro 85HP tractor, so the self- contained hydraulics means I won't be mixing hydraulic fluid between the two tractors.
