CK vs DK

I've been looking at the CK30 for some time now. I have also looked at the DK series. Other than the overall weights, 3 point capacities, and a few ponies, what are the differences between the two models? It is my understanding that the DK series is the "heavy-duty" model, but comparing the CK30 to DK35 I don't see any major differences. I intend on using the tractor quite a bit and want to buy what will work the best.

Along with the DK's much greater 3 point lift capacity, the DK will also carry a larger backhoe. The front end loaders also lift more weight and lift it higher than the CK30. Single remote hydraulic valve comes standard on the DK35. You would have the option to move up a size for three point implements like rear finish mowers and rotary cutters.

One advantage, to me, of the CK30 is the sloping hood and curved loader arms. There is a little better visibility, not that it's a necessary thing, but I like it better than dog eared loaders.
If you want HST, there's no question as the DKs don't offer it.
I suspect you can pull all the mower size you'd need with the CK30, not knowing really what you will need to do.
Either of these models would be a good choice, it's more a matter of whether you need the extra 5 HP, and what price you want to pay. I'd go with the one that you're most comfortable with. I do love the platform operators station on the CK30, and it's plenty powerful from my test runs. John

Quick responses, awesome...I've got a little 13 acre spread. I'll be doing lots of irrigation (backhoe work) lots of mowing, some rototilling, and lots of grading of my gravel road. I've got about a 3 mile road to maintain. I've borrowed a friends LARGE orange tractor with a landplane to grade my road. Is there such a thing as a landplane of the appropriate size for our 30-45 hp machines?

By the sounds of the chores you have to do, I would look at the DK45. When I was shopping, the price really seemed to be a bargain, not much more than the 35 or 40 and quite a bit cheaper than moving up to the 55. You get a nice increase in all capabilities with the 45 over the 35 and obviously the CK30 but, as notes you lose the HST option. DK45 is generally considered big for 13 acres but your list of chores seems to justify it (3 miles road, and lots of backhoe work). That being said, I love my CK30. Anyway, have fun shopping.

Just an FYI: Just found out the other day that Rhino is now offering a cureved arm loader that fits the DK35. I haven't put one on yet but plan on ordering one pretty soon. Hope they continue to offer more curved arm loaders for the larger tractors.

I do everything you mentioned ( on 15 acres) with a DK 35 with loader and Rhino 85 backhoe and it does it quite well. I don't have 3 miles of road to maintain, but I imagine I could if needed !!
I'm not sure what a landplan is.. I use a 6' boxblade or 7' backblade for grade work..

Vince, does your DK35 have a float capability on the hydraulics. In other words, can you float your box or blade?

A landplane, in laymans terms, is a pull type blade with wheels on the back, and a hydraulic system to raise and lower the blade. It is an extremely stable blade, capable of very nice, even, smooth grading.
