CK2610 looses power at half tank fuel

I doubt it is the fuel bleed line. But that is easy enough to check. Check it with a hose and a clear mustard jar just like you do the bleeder valve on automotive brakes to get air out of the brake cylinder.

But you may want to take another look at the schematic you posted. Your description while looking at the machine didn't include #7, the fuel feed pump - also called a "lift pump". That pump puts a positive pressure on all the components that come after it. So not "p trap" situation can exist after the lift pump.

There's a problem though.... That schematic diagram you posted might be drawn wrong by the original illustrator....I'm saying that the schematic itself might be in error. It wouldn't hurt to check that out by looking at the fuel system and comparing it with the schematic. Normally mechanical design is to put the filter before the pump. Doing it with the pump before the filter - like the schematic illustration shows - doesn't make sense & my guess is a drawing mistake.

I think this is fixable if you want. I also think it won't make much difference if you don't.

Sometimes it is hard to understand what and why they did things-that-way in history?

My experience with filters and fuel pumps is that the filter is always first, otherwise the pump can get gunk buildup which affects operation and at the extreme ceases function.

Back-when maybe they made indestructible fuel pumps, but I am inclined to question this.

Might be worth pulling the fuel pump to clean and see what comes out and if dirty/damaged replace and put an easily changeable large volume filter on the line pre-pump?

Mystery gremlins in electrical and fuel system are vexing!

I guess I'll provide a bit of an update. I had been just keeping things 3/4+ full; changed full filter again, and I did try unscrewing the fuel cap. Anyways, yesterday it did it again, while trying to regrade the road. Kinda missed me off, as I'm half a mile from the house, 5/8 of a tank, and halfway through dressing up a problem area. It dies; I restart it and head straight home. Bogs several times but makes it back.

Told wife; and I called dealer.

Their comments were, very unlikely to be a low pressure pump, as the tank is above the engine, and frankly they seen them run with the pump not working at all. They did say, blow air back from the pump to the tank, incase trash, they also said it could be air still, even after 3 or 4 full tanks since filter change.

Yes, its under warranty, but if its trash, air, ect; that service fee would be on me, not Kioti; so I'm going to work from filter backwards to tank. I also dont really trust the bleed screw and primer; and maybe bleed at injectors, as i know would work.

One method to see what's going on would be to replace or add a section of clear fuel line to yours one at the bleeder return and on in front of the injection pump or after the lift pump, teeing a low pressure fuel gauge into the line prior to the injection pump will also establish if that is working.

So, I probably should Google it, but what is an acceptable thread sealant on threads in a diesel system. The fuel-water separator, on the bottom if the filter, plastic males thread into steel females, and I'm starting to wonder if air is able to get in there?

Edit: those threads dont leak diesel, but air can be tricky

I use regular Teflon tape on fuel lines. Make sure to skip the first several threads so there's no loose Teflon hanging over the threaded connector,

Im going to drain the tank, change the filter again, and seal up that screw on water separator.

Edit: Did some looking, and a filter is about $19, or the whole assembly, bleed screw, primer, water separator, with the filter is $45; so, gonna replace the whole dang assembly.

I had the exact same problem with my 2610. After changing out the new filter I noticed that the purge pump on top of the fuel filter assembly didn't do anything when I opened the screw and pressed on it.

It all cleared up when I replaced that fuel filter assembly.

Took about 4 minutes to swap the filter assembly. Now, note, im sitting a full right now, but it primed quickly, and started right up.

12mm; ratcheting wrench for the mounting screws; the left side one, you only have about 8 degrees of swing, so I'd hate to use a normal wrench.



Now, I still need to run it down to 1/4 tank and confirm fixed; and i also need to replace my 5 gal can, its old, and has some sediment in it, and although I always try to avoid pouring the last cup or so of fuel from can, im sure there is sediment that gets in the tank.

So, I wasn't sure if I even wanted to post; I've been noticing my Ck2610 acts like it's starved for fuel when ever it gets to half tank or so; on slopes. I am sure fuel gauge is right, as it takes about 4-5 gal to refill. it's not a big deal, but kinda annoying. Yes I have replaced fuel filter. I do use just reg 5 gal cans, and I have no doubt they haven't always been perfectly clean. Is this just a live with it thing, or should I try to chase down a cinked hose, or something?

Your fuel tank vent is plugged. Test by loosening the cap when you lose power and then tightening the cap up again. If power returns, then replace the gas cap with something that fits from your local auto parts store by bringing in your gas cap and matching it with a Slant fuel cap instead of paying Kioti $50 for a new cap.

So, I guess ill give an update, after replacing the entire fuel filters assembly, things were great for a bit. Then it started acting up same as before. I took the fuel supply side off the filter assembly, and blew compressed air through it, and it ran Great, for a bit. So, today I drained the entire tank, blew the line back out, and put fresh fuel. I currently is running good.

So, when draining the tank, i ran it through a paper towel and got this. In addition, I also got a small piece of a leaf out too. Also, as mentioned, today, when I took the supply side off, to drain, it drained good for a maybe a minute, and then down to next to nothing, Until I removed fuel cap.

So, im thinking, yes, I have a fuel cap venting issue, I had a partial blockage of the pick up as well.

Was replacing the primer and the assembly necessary, maybe not, but I think it was, as the old one would not suck fuel to the filter when priming

I also retired my old diesel can, and got a brand new clean one.
