Ok.up here in Canada its starting to cool off (30F) so I noticed lately when cold starting my tractor that it seems like it fires on 2 cylinders then fires speratically on the third until it fires normally on 3...if this makes sense, its like the 3rd cyl is firing every 3rd revolution then eventually catches up and runs normal, like clang...clang..clang....then rattle, ratttle, rattle normally....god I need a sound clip here...lol.

Is this normal,or maybe injectors are dirty or????

Thanks

Cycle the glow plugs 3 times. Up in the Great White North you should think about a block heater too.

On my CK30hst at 30'F, it starts fine with just one cycle of the glow plugs. No chatter and firing on all three cylinders. Not until 20', or lower, do I need two cycles. I wonder if one of your glow plugs isn't working.
Maybe try MotorSeven's suggestion and cycle the glow plugs again and see if still does the same on a start. If it does, you may have one bad glow plug.

Thanks for the replies, I will try cycling them a few times next time I use it.

If it is a bad glow plug, how hard is it to change yourself?

Thanks

OK, ran the tractor this afternoon, cycled glow plugs 3 times and still seems like it fires on 2 cylinders, the other bangs a few times before smoothing out and rattles with the others...not sure what to think...

I think Victor is right, you have an issue in the glow plug circuit of the plugs themselves.

There is a chance that you have one bad/dirty injector dumping in to much fuel but I think it would take much longer for that cylinder to fire smooth with the others. With three cycles of the glow plugs, all cylinders should be running smooth. Even at 0'F and two cycles of the plugs, mine clangs for @ five seconds and then hits on all three. I'd check the current going to each plug and then the plugs themselves. It's also the easier of the two to check.

Once that happened sort of in my ck30hst about 4 yrs ago, hard to start, unusual. I added a good amount of the white bottle Power Service to the fuel, it cleared it up pretty fast.

It is easy to check your glow plugs without removing them. Disconnect the current circuit off each plug and then just use an ohm-meter to check each plugs resistance. If you cant get a reading, the plug is a dud. A high resistance can mean the plug is on its' way out.
One lead to the connector on the plug, the other to earth.

Re glowplug resistance, how high is too high? Can you give a range, in ohms or k-ohms that one should look for?

There are no set Ohm figures. As low a reading as possible is the ideal. As a plug gets old the resistance figures climb so if you are getting several hundred ohms resistance, the plug is on its'way out.
Just compare the plugs against each other.
Even the w'shop manual dosen't give a fixed reading as in Section 11, Page 24 here...

Hey all, thought I would show a short clip of my Kioti showing a cold start, well today was not real cold,40F . I cycled the glow plugs 2 times, starts right away but hope you can all hear what I was trying to explain....

That's about how mine would be at about 40F. Just as much smoke, and maybe even more time on 1 or 2 cylinders before the 3rd fires off.

My Mahindra and John Deere 240 skiloader sound the same way when starting in cold weather. Sounds like the are only firing on one or cylinders.

My 2006 CK30 acted like this and it seemed to be the ignition switch not lighting the glow plugs. I also thought there was a relay that could get flaky and not power up the glow plugs but still show the light. It was a couple years ago and I think I sprayed contact cleaner in my ignition switch. Got to replace that switch now, doesn't always stay running after letting the key return after cranking. I think if either the keyswitch or relay malfunction none of the glow plugs light and one of the cylinders will fire untill the others warn up. Just something else to check.

Let us know

It sure does seem like the glow plugs aren't doing their job. At 40F and one cycle of the glow plugs, mine starts with just a little smoke and is hitting on all three from the begining. Your video is more matched to mine when the temp is under 20F. Check the glow plugs wires for power. It could be as mentioned by 1wheeler1. There have been past member posts about a faulty glow plug relay and the notorious failing key switch. If you have power, then the resistance check as mentioned.

Victor is right, I don't think y'all's glow plugs are working correctly, at 40 degrees one cycle should be adequate and it should hit on all 3 cylinders right off the bat. At 20 degrees I cycle 3 times and all 4 cylinders hit with very little smoke, but at one cycle it smokes stumbles and spits.

Thanks for all the replies, I will dig out my multimeter today and try to locate my glow plugs ,she looks a little tight under there....will report back tonight!
