Couldn't you just bend the shaft of the shift lever, moving the knob to the outside (left) some? Would that help?

Theres a report filed with Consumer Products Safety Commission. I got a return letter of verification---we'll see if anything happens. Their form letter states they only reveiw "certain" cases. We will see.....
