Cleaning exhaust build up on FEL arms??

I added a 1 1/4" copper, 45 deg. sweat street elbow. (pointed down)
Cut two slots 180 deg. apart, and the width of a hose clamp, in the end of the copper fitting that fits over the tractor exhaust. (slots let it compress a little when the hose clamp is tightened. It's a snug fit anyway)
I was going to weld a fitting on, but I wanted to try one anyone could do that doesn't weld.
It works great, all the exhaust goes to the ground now.

Great idea! Works very well. Thank you.

I made a turn down for my 3240 exhaust which works well in the winter but I take it off in the summer because it stirs up too much dust. The dust is close to the air filter intake so I don't think that is a good thing.A vertical exhaust stack would be much better I think but I haven't gotten around to it yet, maybe some day.

I turned mine down and ran it back by the rear wheel... I have no idea why Kubota builds such a nice piece of equipment then can't add a few more feet of pipe to finish it off right.

Mine is similar but I just heated mine for the B3030. It expanded the metal and I slipped it over the pipe. When it cooled it was very snug.

Any chance hot exhaust discharge directed downward at ground under brush when cause afire if tractor was left running in one spot ? I have no idea hoe hot exhaust gases are .

The tip of the exhaust pipe sits pretty high off the ground. I guess anything is possible if you let a tractor sit for quite a while in some very dry grasses/weeds/etc. I don't have high grass/weeds/etc. and never sit idle in one spot for very long.

You might try applying fluid film when it is clean, then it will not stick.

having had a tractor with a vertical stack for 20 years I consider the way my L4240's exhaust is routed an improvement. The vertical stack would allow rainwater to get into the exhaust manifold unless I put a coffee can on it. if I forgot, then the next time I started the tractor a rain of crap from the exhaust pipe would shoot up in the air and cover me with little black spots. Not to mention how vulnerable it was sticking up when i was working around tree limbs.

Frankly the soot on my FEL arms are the least of my concerns...my tractor stays pretty filthy most of the year, even if I pressure wash it.
