Harley Rake (but I've been out of the landscaping business for some time, there may be better options now)

A landscape rake would clean that up in no time.

Problem with a landscape rake it they fill up so quickly and then you start loosing sticks off to the side of it. If you have the time, they do work, buy you have to create all sorts of small piles that still need to be picked up. I like to create a line of sticks with my rake and get what I can with my grapple.

Why do you want to pick them up? They will rot away in a few years.

Looks ready to seed. Sticks would be rough on a mower.

Tiller would chew em up and smooth out your dirt for seeding.

Pick them up by hand is about the only way to get them all. Either after piling with a rake or just gather them as they sit, you will be doing some hand work.
Problem with a rake is that they tend to gather a lot of dirt along with the sticks so then you have to sort thru the pile of dirt.
If you have a tooth bar, you can lightly drag the teeth in the dirt with the bucket full tilt, but go slow incase you hit an immovable object, to gather them into small piles. The toothbar will allow most dirt to sift thru while gathering most of the sticks, a few will sift thru though and still require some stooping and bending to hand gather.
The good thing is that the small ones will rot fairly quickly and the tiller will chop most of them even smaller.

Here in CA we go to town and find a street corner where illegals wait for someone to drive by and hire them for day work. There is usually a group of 20-30 out at dawn in one particular area. By 9 AM most are working somewhere. Same scene the next morning. All you need to do is find out where this is in your town.

Here they charge $10 - $12 / hour each, but the rate is negotiable. Cash only. Speaking Spanish helps.

The day laborers are used for gathering rocks, cleaning fields (like yours), stacking brush after tree clearing, and even a few slightly skilled tasks like mowing, rototilling, trenching, planting trees, and anywhere another hand is needed.

I recently seeded a field that was full of sticks roots and hay net and strings. I raked it first to 2 central piles. Then I drug it with a chain drag. I brought each pass back to the piles and shook the drag out to clean it. I got off the tractor and removed the net and strings by hand. I did this several times until I was satisfied with the way it looked. Then it was one pass down and back with help driving the Mule and me picking up the remaining trash and rocks. I bought the drag 5 years ago and never used it much until now. I pull it backwards hooked to the fel and raise it up to transport it and dump it when it's full. I'm getting ready to build a frame for it to hook to the tph. It doesn't pickup dirt like the rake. It is also great upside down for manure piles in grass.

You Don't have equipment you won't use again.

quote my Dad..." got a job you think you need a hand?.. closest one is at the end of your arm ...get after it." Toughest part of a tough job is starting it. Lots of ideas here - find one that fits you and "git er done"...;)

"If I hire a boy, I get a boy. If I hire two boys I get a half a boy. And if I hire three boys I get no boy at all."

Lots of ideas and I appreciate the input. I will evaluate it again tomorrow and hopefully make progress toward planting.

I have had pretty good luck in the sandier soil with fewer sticks.
