- Yanmar YM2610 ■YANMAR GURU■ EXTRAORDINAIRE
Spoke to my dealer a little bit ago. He is ttrying a couple of things to get me the 2610 without the loader. He said he would take the loader off one for me but heç—´ afraid he would be stuck with the loader if Fredricks is only willing to sell them with. He said give him until Saturday and heç—´ try to have me one by then.
The 2420 is only two hp less. That does not bother me as much as the drop in frame size. Plus, I think it is less than $500 to move from the 2420 up to the 2610.

Well, that YM2420 would have the 3T84H engine. There are parts for it, but not as broad as the YM2500/YM2610. I do believe the YMXX20 has the OE power steering. That drop in Hp is the balance point for running small hay balers. The YM2610 can in most instances run the 25Hp haying equipment with a little wiggle room should the bailing be on rolling pasture vs. a flat field. Plus as you had mentioned the frame size, less twisting. There must be a reason why John Deere picked the YM2500 frame and engine with nearly zero modifications. And the JD-850/JD-950 (YM2500) wasn't built for a few years, but a decade. That frame for the JD-850 built 30852 units and the same frame 31853 for the JD-950.
Another benefit with the YM2500 is, you know that you know what attachments and mods can be done to the JD-850. The 3T80/3T90 engine can take a TURBO. It's been done more than once. And Yanmar did if for the JD-1050 based off of the 950 engine, the 3T90. The 3T80 & 3T90 share many engine parts too. Thus, when you got the YM2500 or YM2610, you have plenty of options like a turbo.
