How about 4300 owners? Mine has the larger 4310 R4s on it if that helps. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif On the topic of backhoes, I have the 48 hoe on my 4300 and really like it. I think the 48 is a good match size wise to the mid size JD chassis. The main reason I got the 4300 instead of the 4200 was to move up to the 48 hoe over the 47. The 48 hoe gives about a foot and a half more reach than the 47 and I frequently wish the 48 had even more reach. No regrets on my machine. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Well, I took the plunge!!!

Having resolved the MMM v. RFM debate (thanks to all of your advice!), I ordered my JD 4310 this weekend. I'm getting the 4310, eHydro, 4WD, 420 FEL, 6' MMM, and LX6 rotary cutter. When I looked at the minor tasks we would be doing with the loader--plus the extra money we were spending on a MMM--I decided that the 420 FEL should do the trick.

Looking forward to my beautiful machine arriving in a few weeks. My wife can't wait to jump on it too (post-pregnancy, of course). And my father-in-law is dying to drive his car 3 hours to get to our farm, just so he can mow the fields for me!!! Isn't life grand!!!

( The quotes I've gotten from our dealer (Barnett in W. Washington) put the 47 hoe about 2-2.5K cheaper than the 48, I want to neither under-buy, nor over-buy given the large investment a hoe represents )

Even the 47 is a lot of money. As great as a backhoe is, it might end up sitting around a lot after the inital jobs get knocked out. Tp me, the cost per digging depth foot was not worth it on the 48 over the 47. But we can run water lines at 18" (Can, do at 24")

When I bought the 4310, I wanted that frame size, and even though the 4410 is only a little more grunt, for a lot more geld, I was afraid that I needed that extra umph. So far I have not lacked for power and am glad I went 4310.

One thing that helped me in comparing the 47 to the 48 is to realize that they are BOTH small. Compared to the big hoes, there really isn't a lot of differance. But if that 1 foot is what breaks it for you, than by golly, get the foot. It ain't cheaper in volume.

FWIW, the 47 can get a 9" bucket, and goes ut to 36" The 48 starts at 12"

WHO decided to hide the Hydro fill cap within the Power Beyond bracket?

I've had mine (4310) since Aug. 02, just one little glitch in the puter (wouldn't stop quick enough going backwards), replaced puter, all's well. R4's, 430, woods 60" box, JD LX 60" cutter. Awesome machine, 70hrs. first tractor, wish i would have bought one long time ago. makes and maintains trails on 60 wooded/rocky acres. small stumps, moves everything, skids logs, made and maintains a .1 mi. dirt flat track for mini-bike racing, clears brush, maintains earthen dam. does all asked of it and more. borrow nieghbors backhoe for big stumps, etc. and he borrow mine for his stuff. other neighbor got same but is shuttle shift, mine is hydro. hands down best way to go for me.

Count me in. JD4310 eHydro, speedmatch, motionmatch, autocruise, etc., etc., 430 loader with heavyduty bucket and toothbar (rarely used yet), 4in1 bucket (hooray), 60"MMM plus list of growing attachments (Midwest -- great value for the money and more on those later).

I had a grim start -- dealer is EVERYTHING, don't make my mistake. BUT, THIS IS A GREAT TRACTOR.

At last, I can say it again -- OH, BOY! OH, BOY! WHAT A GREAT MACHINE.

Sorry for the late reply, but I want to join!

Should be getting my 4310 in about a week. First task I need to master is rotary cutting (brush hogging).
