Here it is.
http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/yanmar/199598-how-replace-oil-seal-driveshaft.html

I sent MJ a PM at the time, to the effect of 'Help - can you translate for him?'

Actually, there was ANOTHER guy in Poland that posted a thread. I can't remember his name. He posted a number of pictures, including ones where you could see what the land there looked like. Someone in NH (I think) was saying it looked just like his land. Anyway, somewhere in the THAT thread was a picture showing the insides of his transmission... I don't think I was dreaming... :D

So... I figured out what was REALLY making the griding noise. My YM2210 started doing it again today, making the grinding noise when I would push in the clutch. I was surprised and thought it was odd that the inertia brake needed adjusting again already. Somehow (thankfully) I noticed that the ignition key was still on START, and something in my brain went *click!* The grinding noise was the starter. This tractor has a switch so that the clutch has to be engaged before the starter would get power. Since the ignition was stuck on START, the starter would get power anytime I would push in the clutch far enough. The ignition wasn't getting stuck every time, so after I adjusted the inertia brake, it seemed to fix it. Nice to know what was really going on here.

Well now, I believe this is a first. Glad you got to the root of the problem.

Wow thats unexpected, new key switch, way cheaper than most things!! Is Fredricks stepping up to the plate, just wondering how good they are on the warrenty stuff?

I think the key switch is going to be ok. I tried to lube it to help make sure it springs back after starting. We shall see. If nothing else, it's on my radar now, so if I hear the grinding, I'll check the key.

Regarding Fredricks: They made some suggestions on adjusting the clutch, same as folks on here. Hopefully they are responsive should I need a replacement part. But then again, hopefully I don't need any replacement parts!

Im just thinking, i would call them about the key switch. Get a replacement if they warrenty that part. Even if you dont feel like replacing it you will have it for when it really tears up. No reason to "settle" you ponied up the big bucks for that tractor, toi be in like new condition.

You shouldn't have a problem with Fredricks sending a new switch. They sent me a new tach.

Kenmac -- good to hear. I will ask for one if it keeps sticking.

I am in the repair business I see things break right in front of me and I see things break soon after I have been there and they were fine just the way it works hate to say it. Spray oil is your friend btw.

fwtw I highly recommend you also take time and go around and check all the bolts you can find for tightness. I had a bunch of bolts were about to fall out, had fallen out or were loose on mine....all good now.
