Clutch Squealing

After not using the tractor much lately started it today and was hooking up the buhhog. Any time I put much of a strain on it taking off it squeals like crazy. By that I mean anytime you have any rpms at all and let out on the clutch it squeals. What could be the problem?

May be a bearing, do you hear the squealing just when the mower is hooked up or all the time. Might be rust on the clutch plate also. The noise should stop wit some use if it is rust.TB

We have an old 2 cyl JD that does this. Does the bush hog have a clutch pack or a shear pin? The problem on the old JD was due to rust on the clutch on the bush hog. I assume when you are letting off the clutch the PTO is engaged? If so, I agree with Texas Bill. It is probably due to rust on the bush hog clutch.

Tranny clutch. only when i have the rpms high it squeals. it's definately in the tractor. isn't going away so it is not rust.

How much pedal do you have when letting the clutch out> It may need adjusted and isn't engaging completely.

Adjusted it and it still does it. Everything seems to be engaging correctly and it pulls fine it just squeals for a second when you first let out.

Do you see any evidence of oil or hydraulic leaks around the clutch housing?

No, nothing out of the ordinary.
