There is something good about every place. I've been to the UP. It would be a hoot to ice fish up there sometime. If you get a chance, look at a Feb Field & Stream....there is a great shot of about 50 guys lined up drilling holes in the ice. Seems they drill about 22000 holes for the annual Brainard Mn Jaycees ice fishing extravaganza. They did say the ice was 26 inches and 22000 holes were over 250 acres. That many holes in one spot would make me nervous. Every once in awhile, some people from northern indiana will even venture down our way when the ice is good. I always learn a lot from these guys. We use mostly bee moths here...but I notice that guys up north use spikes a lot. When I was a teenager, my dad was always growing his own ice bait. I think it drove my mom crazy. He liked golden grubs. We sometimes get our hands on mousies and spikes , but hardly anyone around here keeps them in the bait shops. I have a bro-in-law and nephew who are insane about ice fishing, and it's always great to spend a few weekends on the ice with those guys.
