The price difference is considerable. On the 'Cheaper than Dirt' website the SC is around $200, Charter 44 special around $400, and the cheapest 38 special is a Rock Island for around $250. Since the secondary use for the weapon is shooting birds inside a shed I think (usually get in trouble when I try thinking) the 38 and 44 would be too powerful. Also I have a 38 Special already and I usually have a Ruger LCP in my pocket when down in the bottoms.
Hey 'the old grind', I appreciate your comments on the Comanche. And I will agree with you on the dual-purpose equipment. Sometimes it just doesn't do either job adequately. What I want/need is a specialized snake/inside bird killer. High accuracy is not needed. A quick shot with a target area of a few inches is sufficient.
Just thought of a third use for a SC. We saw very few rabbits, groundhogs, etc in the fields last year but there were huge numbers of either rats or super field mice. I would pull out and chase them trying to mow them down. SC would be a good rat killer while sitting on the Kioti.
I appreciate everybody's comments and keep them coming. This is what is great about TBN. Ask a question and even the replies that don't directly answer make you think.
