Good perspective, I weld a pipe on a plow for snow removal it works very good Imo. Especially in gravel or clearing a parking area on lawn. Heard of loader arms bending especially when plowing and the loader or plow hits something hard or cutting edge digs in. The pipe on cutting edge alleviates most of that in my experiences. I foresee myself getting a smaller foreign made qa plow weld a pipe on cutting edge of plow and be done with it.

You might keep your eye open for small JD 2 series tractor or B sized Kubota. You can put me in the camp of buying to small with my Kubota BX and ended up with a JD 2025r, but I did keep the BX 10 years. I think people over estimate the importance of the maneuverability of a scut vs a cut. The larger tire size of a small cut is a big step up.

A lot of this depends on your planned use. If you’re going to be working on your lawn tire size is less important.

Seeing as how I want to be done with using my old 212 up there to cut grass looking for a multi-purpose use small footprint machine. I could have got my better half a push mower for mother's day then I'd probably be living up there like a hermit. Lol. For awhile looked at bigger lawn tractors with a rear locker but wasn't impressed with the hydro drives on most plus the price for a mostly single use machine. Dream machine would be a small 4x4 subcompact , gear driven with hydraulic shuttle. Qa loader and under 60" belly mower.

Are there aftermarket mid pto model specific or somewhat universal front mount snow blowers out there.? Definitely like the idea of tph pto snowblower if I see the eventual use and need for it. This summer or fall will try and find time to configure a mounting system using the beat up bucket for my ATV underpowered self contained snow blower on my old 2850 down state. Or I might configure something on my older pioneer 500 sxs.

I really like the Ventrac. For my hills I wouldn't be comfortable with anything else.

I use the rake or the bucket on the front of the tractor to groom my hilly driveway and am satisfied.

I've never felt like I have come close to rolling it, but I have slid in it on damp grass.

No answer to your specific question, but having had a smaller tractor or two (JD 750, JD 855), I definitely agree a snowblower is 100% the way to go in deep or heavy snow.

We don't get the light powdery stuff as often as we do the heavy wet stuff, but sometimes we get 24 - 36 inches of it in a single storm, meaning the weight per linear foot of travel is just absolutely massive. A JD 2-series would be good around here for pushing a plow blade through 6" or 8" of that kind of snow, but not the bigger storms, and a JD 1-series might be more limited to plowing in 4" - 6" of heavy snow. They have the mite, through smart gearing, but not the weight and traction.

I found that my JD 855, which was very similar in weight and size to a modern 2025R, was great at pushing snow up to 6" or 8" with a bucket on the loader. But when we'd get a foot or more of heavy wet stuff, it was time to mount up the PTO snowblower, since it'd be faster than trying to push or shovel that kind of weight.

your cargo looks like a 4wd power wheel barrow. i have one as well, highly useful tool i use all the time landscaping my 3 pond dams. good choice, not many know about this useful machine.

It all depends on how quick you need it done. I didn't like missing work for snow back then, or showing up late everytime I needed to clear the driveway, so speed was important to me.

My attitude has changed a little with regard to all of that, in recent years, but I know some still need to get up and out as quickly as possible on snow days.

It's for my vacation cabin, feel very fortunate I have the time to be up there and resources to even be considering a subcompact tractor for intermittent use. Already fantasize about being able to somewhat safely mow grass easier going up those hills. Lack of speed plowing snow would hinder my snowmobile riding time up there I guess.

Hauling 17k on my trailer with my truck is violating something, somewhere I believe even with a CDL. However I bought that trailer knowing I'd never need a bigger one.

Well, not if your state has certain criteria for d.o.t usage. My state allows weights up to 26k all combined.
My state is rather puritanical in its nature so yours could be even more.

I suspect the former more than the latter. We haven't been seeing a lot of threads here filled with chronic 1-series problems, but we do know most wish they had bought a bigger tractor, and the 1-series are awfully small!

I've been strongly considering adding a BX or JD1 to my set of tools as I've got some places that are inconvenient for my ~5½' wide tractor.
I wouldn't've been happy with less of a tractor/smaller tractor, but I do find myself wishing I had something smaller - and my wife wants something better to pull her garden cart around (and we need a bigger garden cart... and the old "lawn tractor" definitely wouldn't be happy with anything bigger!).
So, I'm mildly shopping for an SCUT...

Off topic - just curious, is there much of an aftermarket for a backhoe attachment for something like a BX or JD1? I've seen a couple SCUTs for sale with them, and I definitely don't need two backhoes, so being able to sell it eventually would be a bonus..

Yes
We do. Mahindra 1100 series.
790 lb fel lift.
If you weren’t going to lift and load with the tractor, you could use a 3 point attachment to carry dirt, debris, logs etc.
Front mount snow blowers almost necessitate a shield of some sort such as a cab.
So this Mahindra provides a cab, 52” pto belly mower that gets off and on in minutes plus your mid pto snow thrower.

I would prefer a compact tractor (Kubota B, of John Deere 2xxx series) over a SCUT (Kubota BX, of John Deere 1xxx series). Your usage/location is helpful information. In that case, a subcompact would be fine. My neighbor has a Kubota GR2120 garden tractor. It is amazing how much snow he can blow with that (when he doesn't suck up a garden hose!). A BX sould be a sigificant step uo from that. Maybe you can find a good used one with a loader and a front mount snowblower.

No there isn’t aftermarket wise.
However recently, half the tractors we sell have backhoes and this for tractors of all sizes including scuts so the need could be growing.
The problem is most are proprietary toward brand.

Sold my 3ph self contained bh pretty quickly a few years ago (had a pump you hooked up to rear PTO shaft) didn't run off the tractors hydraulic system.

So a new rk made by tym 21 h is pretty high on my list, definitely 1 series green is out after quote I got. Higher than everyone else. Did like the JD quick attach drive over mid deck though. Heck you don't even have to get off the tractor to hook the mid pto shaft up. Kind of enjoying new sub compact tractor shopping until I see some of the quotes lol. One thing some of these less popular brands say they will do for me is cover warranty work especially more minor things, I may have to perform myself under a shady tree up north instead of having to trailer it hundreds of miles to a dealership. Granted I'm required to take pictures and possibly bring them the broken or non functional parts to receive comp. However It's not like I'll run a chain fall off a hearty maple limb to split a new tractor under warranty, lol.
That alone definitely makes me a bit more comfortable as I pursue my lesser known new Instead of used compact subcompact search.
