Bolens were made by Iseki, who also makes/made AGCO, Challenger, Massey Ferguson and White along. My 30 year old Bolens was made by Iseki, and has a Mitsubishi diesel. The Bolens Diesels were farm and agricultural tractors, unlike the Bolens lawn care tractors that were made by MTD, along with John Deere, Cub Cadet, and many others. These were completely different, and were riding mowers, compared to the diesel tractors that Iseki produced. Sadly, they also stopped production of the Bolens and White diesel tractors in the mid 1990's. There are many parts still available, and Iseki continues to make tractors for MF, Fendt, Vatra and Challanger.

Its similar to how New Holland made Fords, and Yamar made Cub Cadets.

Deutz-Allis - can still get a Deutz Fahr though.
Bolens - lots of them still around

Richard, did you know Daewoo makes rifles and handguns too?

They are a little hard to come by now, as IIRC they did not go with all the gun grabber garbage that came out in the late 80's to....well now. They make a real nice semi-automatic K2 that was imported for a while and it is pretty well hunted by collectors today. Very good quality and uses the M16 mags. A very high quality home grown design in South Korea.

That Pistol shown is well worth hanging on to.

Tractor sizes JD used to source from Yanmar and now builds the equivalent themselves - will parts remain available for a Yanmar sourced product like it will for a true JD?

This is something I hope people will learn from my experience....my JD 650 is just this, they can't get parts. I need a part on this tractor to make the center PTO start working again, and they do not make wheels for the machine any longer. The tire size is a bit of an odd duck as well. You can't plan for it, and I really think you can't make a tractor choice based sole on it, but it did come into my thinking in shopping. I looked with cautious eyes I freely admit on the Mahindra...yes I know the company history....but I also know the history of a company as large as Fiat in Europe....and they up and left the US after years here and took all their brands with them....just now they are coming back. (I wait for the fiat crap car jokes) A great many factors came into my decision....and how long they have been in the US was one of them.

I can't believe you can't get parts for a tractor from the 80s. Have you called deere directly?

yup....they classified the clutch parts that I needed as engine parts....Yanmar engine. Not sure on the wheel. Called 3 different dealers, all told me the same thing so I did not go past that on the wheels.

Two words: Planned obsolescence.

I would bet that with that price you will see it posted on Craigslist for a very long time. I sure wouldn't want to pay a new price for a discontinued and used tractor.
Yep. If that price includes the backhoe, it would be closer, but still a little high...

There were also the tube frame machines (ie: Bolens 1050) which were well built garden tractors (not lawn mowers), but not diesel and not 4wd.
