The local county fair just started and I was amazed at the range of tractors on display. When I bought my JD, the only other local choices were Kubota and New Holland from marginal dealers and maybe Mahindra if you wanted to drive a distance. This year, besides JD and Kubota, we had Case IH, Kioti, Mahindra, TYM, Bad Boy, Bobcat and even a Deutz-Fahr. Summit wasn't there but they are available at a local Farm store. The market for compact tractors must be improving. I was talking to a salesman and told him my JD was only 14 years old so I wouldn't be in the market for another 20 years or so. He said the hardest part of selling to existing tractor owners was getting them to understand they wanted a new tractor, not needed one.

Not sure that sales pitch would work on many people..

I would think the pitch would be reversed. Need to have and not want to have.

I wanted more weight on my tractor when I bought it (cheaper and no DPF) but found out the hard way I needed more weight.

I absolutely love seeing the advancements in the compact tractor field; new designs, improved ergonomics, lots of competition.
