Does anyone have a CUT equipped with a cab? I am looking at a cozy cab for my DX33. I can't think of anything more enjoyable than going out in the dead of winter at night and plowing snow in the comfort of a heated cab. Any thoughts and pictures would be great too would be appreciated!

I have a Kubota L3430 HSTC with the factory cab. It is absolutely great; exceptional vision, quiet, very cool today/AC (93 and humid today in Minnesota), comfortable, and easy to get in and out of. The heater and cab are ideal for snow removal (primary reason I purchased the tractor).

I looked at putting an aftermarket cab on my old tractor (NH/Ford 3930), but decided against it. The aftermarket cabs were ill-fitting, noisy, hard to get in and out of, and of no use in the summertime unless AC was somehow jerry rigged into it.

My recommendation would be to wait until the DX 33 is offered with a factory cab or trade the DX 33 for a CUT with a factory cab. Before you buy an aftermarket cab for your tractor, go out and drive one with a factory cab with all the amenities especially AC. I believe, like me, you'd be hard pressed to invest several thousand dollars in an aftermarket cab for your current CUT.

Mowing and snowblowing in comfort!

OrangeGuy I think you hit the nail on the head. At one time I was also thinking about a cab for my TC-40D but then if I had added a cab for winter use without AC it most likely would have been like an oven in the summer months with the added solar load. I really don't want to add a cab for winter use and then take it off for summer use (I'm too lazy). Besides I'm a fresh air freak and a bit claustrophobic to boot.

Now if I was working in a very dusty or dirty environment, or if I had an allergy to cut grass, ragweed, or the like then I could justify a cabbed tractor with AC and would be content with the added confinement.

I don't see it in the cards for me.........

There was a recently revived thread about a home made cab I read in the last week or two. I'm not sure but I'd guess you'd find it in 'Build It Yourself' if you looked.

The cozy cab I was looking at has heat but no A/C since the tractor has none and I don't imagine there is an option offered at this time. The doors and rear glass are easily removed from the cozy cab for summertime use, would function much the same as a canopy. There would be a little added heat I would imagine from the front glass, A/C would be a deffinite plus in these dog days of summer /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif.

Jodale makes some real nice cabs. Maybe you should see if they offer one for the DX33.

Here is the link:

Here is a pic of their cab on a Case DX35:

They look good I thought and they have a slight overstock from what I understand so they may be willing to deal. Another guy emailed me about them and he offered them $2000.00 for one and they told him to contact them again in 60 days and they may consider it.....would be mighty tempting!

Hi...

Attachment shows my Kubota L3130 with a Curtis brand "soft-sided" cab...

Has a Curtis heater... and a seperate 2-speed ~8" fan inside the cab...

Finally got myself outta the cold 'n wet snow !
25 and wet snow outside... 45+ and dry inside... /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

The cab is a real asset in the summer heat too !

Keeps me cooler... lets me work in the rain... ...wiper on front & rear glass...

No air conditioning... ...but...
...front and rear glass windows open about 4" at their bottoms...
...the 2 soft-sided doors lift right off their hinge pins...
Put the ~8" fan on high... pointed to my upper body/head...
...and the roof keeps the hot sun off of me...
...Ahhhhhhh.... /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

...much better than no cab... winter or summer...

Dave...

I built my cab and have used it since last winter. I built mine so the doors, front and back windows can come off in summer. I lined the bottom of the roof with Reflectix foil lined bubble wrap. Kept warm in the winter with no condensation and helps keep cool in summer. Also built the heater and never have to run past the lowest speed.

I don't know how hot your climate is, but where I am in NW Louisiana I need to run the A/C even on very mild days due to the tremendous heat gain from all the glass. The side and back windows on my Kubota L5030 Cab can only be opened a few inches, and I don't want to operate with the doors open. I like my cab and would not want to be without it; however, I do sometimes feel disconnected from the great outdoors.

Feeling disconnected from the outdoors when doing tractor work doesn't bother me at all. For me, the equation works out like this:

tractor + outdoors = (hornets + dust + flies + thorny branches) * (no problem because I have a cab).

Here in NW Missouri the summers are pretty warm and humid. I don't do a lot of brush cutting so a cab w/air in the summer is not that big of an issue. My main concern is in the winter and plowing snow, especially at night. I guess getting older and tired of wearing enough clothes to render me motionless seems to be much less appealing than a nice warm cab......but then it will probably quit snowing when I buy one!

Hey, that would be great! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

One way or another, you're going to get the snow to go away, right? Might as well not have it show up at all. And you'll have your cab so that you can go for little cold weather joy rides over the hills and dales! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Gary,

No snow would be like ......oh I can't even imagine /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif, especially if I had a warm toasty cab.....I would have to move to Wisconsin! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have been lurking and not posting so you don't know me, but here is a picture of my 5030HSTC with a cab and all options. AC, heat, rear defog, wipers front and rear, swing out quarter windows, am-fm cd weatherband radio, work lights front and rear....oh, I forgot window washers front and rear too.
