Comparing Major Brand Plasma systems to low cost imports

In addition to our video, the model shown is a High Voltage design. We also have some blow back models as well for those who require frequency free arc starting.

The blow back mechanism are preferred for CNC tables as most tables out there do not like High Frequency or High Voltage starting.

I wish we could put all that in a video, but who wants to see a man talking about plasma cutters starting arc for more than 5 minutes?

Could you be a bit more explicit in just what positions you are hiring for?

Based on several studies, videos in the 5 minute+ range tend to lose the viewer's attention (they tend to fast forward or click away). Our goal was to show our customers what pilot arc is as most of them are first time buyers for a plasma cutter and wish to not shell out big bucks, yet still wish to have the features of the big brands. Surprisingly, most buyers heard of the term but do not know what it is or have not seen it in action.

Although, I am sure we can do an hour on the function of pilot arc plasma cutting, etc... that would not reach our audience. I asked Tim to do some basic operational videos on cut speed, etc. and hopefully he will be able to present that shortly.

As far as hiring, since its 11pm and I am still working - we have several positions available and plenty of work to bestow. We wish to employ, experienced, skilled, and positive individuals that wish to grow with the company and are always looking for individuals who can add value to our company. Right now, sales, marketing, testing, and packaging are positions that are available.

Here is my general feeling on the subject, and by the way I have a Hypertherm Unit. 800 or something like that.

I don't like consumer grade equipment. I would sooner buy a good used commercial piece of equipment, no matter what we are talking about, then consumer junk that is made as cheap as possibly possibly believing it will rarely be used. With occasional use, I am never going to wear out stuff made for industry. Also, I find that one can really push commercial stuff beyond it's advertised limits once in a while with no ill effects. Try that with consumer stuff! It usually doesn't even perform to its advertised level! Not only that, most commercial equipment can always be sold for what you paid for it (used). So in the end, it costs you nothing. You can't say that for most consumer level equipment.

To each his own. I agree that there is junk on the market. I have also seen "industrial grade" junk. But, experience has certainly proven that there is consumer-level equipment that is of value. I have a Hobart welder that I use almost every day, without a hiccup. I have bought industrial grade drill bits, to have them perform poorly. Bits that I bought at Lowe's lasted longer. There are so many variables, it is hard to make such a blanket statement. I believe that it is more important to know your business, so that you can buy the tool that will work the best- I don't trust what someone else calls professional, industrial, commercial, or heavy duty grade.

And this is why single brand (well two very similar brands now) sponsorship of a general forum where there are MANY competitors is a very bad thing.

Sponsorship in these situations should be limited to sub-forums under the main heading only. ie: Everlast subforum or Longeitivity subforum etc.

I think that Jims posts are far from trying to get free advertising.. If anything his are generally more helpful in that they ARENT continually pushing product like some.

When the day arrives that I get a Plasma, I know which brand I'm getting.

I imagine this thread will be purged soon, I honestly hope it isnt, because people should see an honest comparison of strengths and weaknesses, but the realities lately have shown otherwise.

This thread is starting to sound like a reality Little Princess show.
