compost turning tools

I keep several 1-2 yard compost piles in various states of activity and maturity.
Turning the piles with with the FEL bucket is less than ideal, (unless I'm doing something wrong, Limited space between trees and rocks etc. ;-)

I'm thinking a set of hay forks would be ideal, But I'm not in hay country, and don't have QA on the FEL. Not that I've ever seen hay forks in QA around here.

Any ideas for "lifting, turning and aeration of small piles of "dirt". ?

I have never turned compost with my tractor.

I speculate 24" or 32" seven spear Ultra Forks bucket attachment would work well turning compost. Sharp spears should penetrate pile or get under pile without pushing compost away. The individual spears screw on/off so you can adjust fork width to your requirements. Watch the video.

I have used a bucket spade from this company for six years. Their tool attachment to the bucket is very strong and supportive.

An ensilage fork is as good as it gets for small compost bins and you can cancel your gym membership.

I put four on mine, stirs things pretty good. I use the FEL to spread out, run the RT over it many times then stack it back up. I did the same with sod I removed for planting beds to get it all decomposed to reuse elsewhere. Over 8 years I produced approx 50CYs of good compost I used every where especially the garden plot. Those piles had every thing, including kitchen vegetation scraps, (no meats or grease), egg shells, weeds, grass clippings, chipper products, and a sack urea from tome to time. Very rich in nitrogen and organics.

These are original Melroe fabricated and super handy. Spears can be shuffled around and removed for any width and number configuration. They are held in with cotter keys in back.

I keep it hosed off and oiled in the winter. It lives outside.
