computer ignorance

When I returned to my laptop after using it earlier this morning [I did not shut it down], I was surprised to find the Taskbar at the top of the screen instead of the bottom. Now this is not a major deal, except that it bugs me & I can't figure out how to get it back on the bottom. I tried using Control Panel - appearance & themes, but could not find what I needed. Can anyone help.

I believe you can just click in an open area of the taskbar, hold down the button on the mouse and drag the taskbar back to the bottom of the screen.

Left click and drag the taskbar back to the bottom of the screen. Once you get it there right click it and check "Lock the Taskbar". It'll stay put then or should.

You can also put it on the left or right side running up and down.

OK, as long as we're talking about this, how do you make it only one layer "thick" again? Mines grown to two, and with a 14" screen I need all the real estate I can get just to be able to see and read what's on there.....

Yep, exactly the way I thought it should work too...............

If you try to drag it down , it just goes offscreen, when you pull it back up, it's double sized again.............

Any ideas?

Don't drag the entire taskbar, just get the = two lines then shrink it to one line.

Now.. if you have installed alot of bloatware that drops icons in your tray.. then you may want to consider cleaning your tray out a bit.

I'll go mess with it again, I have eliminated virtually all the software from this laptop that she doesn't use daily, it's as "light" as I can make it, but still there are a few icons down there..............
