RoyJackson, what is your opinion of Taurus?

I like 'em alot! I've owed 5 or 6...currently own three.
However, it seems they have more quality issues then some other manufacturers. The 85UL (titanium cylinder and barrel shroud, aluminum frame) had problem with light striking when I first bought it. It was the third Model 85 I owned (others were stainless steel) and the first I had trouble with.
However, Taurus warrants the gun for life...and their service is really good.
The 85UL was sent back to the factory...returned in about three weeks..been reliable as all get out ever since. I carry the 85 more then any others...mostly due to it's light weight (13.5 oz.). I normally carry in my front pocket (with a pocket holster!!).
I also own a Model 627 Tracker in stainless (really nice medium frame .357 Magnum) and an old model 607 (large frame .357, also stainless).
I've never owned any Taurus semi-auto's though.
If you buy a Taurus...or any other gun...try to get 200-300 rounds through it ASAP to break it in and ensure it's reliable.

And, the Model 627 Tracker...this one is stainless. There is a titanium version but I didn't want to spend the extra $250 (at that time).

I have one from my home state of Michigan. I have 4 non-resident permits from other states as well. Florida, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, and Maine. I travel around the country for my occupation so I am legal in quite a few states with all of the various reciprocity agreements.

Roy and Mike, I just wanted to elaborate one of Roy's statements.

The form also has a place to give your reason for getting the permit...Protection is a valid reason.

You can have multiple reasons on your permit. I for one have Self Defense (SD), Hunting and Fishing (HF), and Target Practice (T) all stated on my Pennsylvania Non-Resident license.

Have taken Michigans required class but have yet to fill out paperwork, averaging 2 months for processing I hear.

Will carry my colt government 380 but probably not too often.

... just as soon as I finish out my residency requirement so I can apply for citizenship .... until then I can pay taxes but can't buy a gun ...
Just love "equality"
