Spiker, Did Marc and Joni build your Barn?

I had CHUPPS Builders out of Apple Creek do the barn rough in, I did pad prep work and laid it out. The did rest including the materials all top grade stuff. Had issues with the weather and the time of year. They took off deer hunting and to finish a big horse arena in middle for several weeks during worst weather that year tho. :/

The concrete guys were R Weever Concrete guys also from Shreve area.

had a lot of quaintness recommend them and agree they are real good. ("hoping the fence"?) are you talking about their religion sect's ease of rules?

M

I guess it means leaving them but can rejoin if it doesn't work out?

Thanks guys. The price was for everything. He said nothing about rebar but did say he includes fiberglass. I guess that is in the mix???

This guy just happened to stop by. He wanted to estimate my 1100' driveway. No wat I could afford that so I did not get an estimate. I have 2 more people right now. I was both of their kids basketball coach so maybe they will cut me "some" slack....

That would be a red flag for me. I've heard too many horror stories about people getting screwed over by these type of people that show up and put down a driveway. Usually it will look good at first but long term is not good as lots of corners were cut. Then you can never usually find these people again to get it fixed.

If I where you, I would ask abiut pour and finish prices. You form, buy tge mud, place rebar, wire, ect; and contract two or three amigos to actually finish it. Then you know exactly how level it is, how much rebar it the footer, ect. You get a much lower price (maybe $500-800) because its only a couple hour job, not two days, and you can form at your leisure.

Of coarse you end up paying for mud, form boards, rebar, wire, and if you use it, visqueen.

BTW, I come up with 9.25 cy, so I would order a full 10 cy truck. You will want to string line it all and check grades. I prefer 6" for any driveways, but 4" done right will hold. Consider a 6"/8" footer with rebar where you drive onto and off of it. If you stay with 4", make sure you compact the holy heck out of the dirt, and use WWF and maybe fiber too (not a fan personally).

I am a diy guy and this has me thinking . The area is relatively flat and I have a tractor. There are some terms that I don't really understand like, "mud" ; what is that??? YouTube has always been my friend and of course you all!!!!

Mud is just what concrete guys call concrete. I would seriously consider using a bit of your savings to upgrade to 6" slab with wire or rebar. Although your material will cost 33% more, labor won't cost more. You can still use 2x4 form and just make sure you have 5.5"-6" down from Top of the form.

Had a 25X25 pad poured a couple years ago. Wasn't home when they started. Cost $2,100. I had told the guy I wanted the area cut and as level as possible to have a basketball place for the kids. I got home in the middle of the pour and he "decided" that the slope had to be the way it was mostly instead of making a small hill or hump before the pad and having a more level pad. For aesthetics, I don't disagree with him, but I wanted a basketball area. Still po'd about that, although I can say his work was good. I still regret not having him stop and start over just on principle, but the truck was half emptied already before I arrived. So now, we play basketball on a slope.
