Livingston was from one of the deep southern states, Louisiana I think but I could be wrong on that. After it was discovered that Newt was doing the same as Clinton(his afair with his intern had went on for years and had started while he was married) Livingston was to replace Newt as leader of the house then it was discovered he was also having an afair and he was married. While beating up on Clinton for his afair many of his worst detractors were doing the same thing. It all seems a bit disingenuous to me that we all seem to be able to Critisize those we disagree with politically for their short comings but fail to see those same short comings in our own. We all seem to ingore the fact that G.W. has a nefarious past until the age of 40 when he supposedly changed. It seems to me that if it is wrong for one then it should be wrong for the other.

I do not mean to ofend its just my opinion and I could be wrong.

Actually, government payroll shrunkn quite a lot during the Clinton years. When Dubya came into office the number of people working for the federal government was the smallest it's been for a decade or two.

I was not nessecarily talking about the number of employees of the government as I was the amount of enviromental laws/osha/gun control.....

Actually, the way I read it, the number of people on the government payroll INCREASED during the clinton administration, not decreased. You need to dig below the sound-bites to figure out what really happened. Some employees were re-classified as contractors (does that really count towards reducing the size of government), and a lot of military cuts (too many) were done. The non-military civilian work force including contractors increased during the 8 years of Clinton-Gore.

After EIGHT posts of Clinton bashing I agree that it is only fair that you refrain from pushing your beliefs on others on this board. After all the thread was on Condit, not Clinton. It amazes me that so many people are obsessed with Bill (and Hillary) Clinton.

I was only stating what I see as the truth. That is obviously subject to change based on what is discovered about people. My "ideal" is that public officials should try to set the example rather than degrade it.

I believe this an open forum... Would hate for it to be any other way.

It's not possible to bash Clinton too much for all the damage he did to the presidency and this county. Condit, who may be completely innocent, is now paying for Clinton's sins. The Democrats and the liberal media are not lining up behind him, in reflexive kneejerks, like they did for Clinton.
