Conduit wiring method

I suppose the reason for this must have as much to do with a ground wire that is not covered. The other conductors in NM are THHN, approved for wet locations. The other possibility would be the NM vinyl covering influencing the decision to keep NM out of the conduit in wet locations. Frankly if this were me, I'd be pulling individual wires and piping it right to the sub panel after reducing the 1.5" PVC to 3/4" EMT via a J-Box

This is an option I am also looking at. Even though EMT is astronomical in price ($5/10ft stick /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif, remember when it was 74 cents??), it should still be less than the price of UF, even when the price of the wire is taken into account. Labor is not an issue, I will be doing it myself. I should be able to do this with THHN/THWN, right? Most of the runs will be straight pipe, so very little bending involved.

Edit....this posts sort of makes it sound like I am looking for the cheapest method, I'm not. But I am perfectly willing to take advantage of a less expensive option, and still do it right. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I recently purchased a several lengths of 1" EMT. You are right, unbelieveable how much it went up. I think I was paying about $10 per piece from Home Depot. It has another meaning to me now to be sure and make sure my bends and cuts are accurate.

RaT,
My code book says THHN is listed for dry and damp locations only. However, THHN/THWN is ok for a wet location. What is Type NM made with? I am still looking. The NEC® says Type NM may not be used where "subject to excessive moisture or dampness"
