Confronting another tresspasser. Step 1 went ok

/ Confronting another tresspasser. Step 1 went ok #71
I enjoy the trespassing threads as I always learn something new or a new approach to the problem. The power company is putting a new power line accross my property and I am anticipating problems with trespassers assuming that the new power line right of way is their new playground. I will end up with a long access road, to one of the new towers, running down the side of my property line and will have to devise some way of keeping people from thinking its ok to use because its for the power company.

Off topic but wait until they (power company) wants to start cutting trees down. It's been a sore spot with me for the last year and the power company STILL hasn't done what they said they would do from last year. Problem is, they sub out some of the tree work and they have jokers working for the sub who don't seem to care what they do. I don't mind clearing what you need to, but don't make a mess doing it.

A few yeas back someone 1 1/2 mi down the road hosted a bog-fest on his own property but adjacent to a Pow Co ROW. One event beget another, and as participation grew things got a bit hairy when folks crossed a line despite his insistence otherwise & tore up the ROW as you might expect.

Had he put up a fence to contain such wanderings anyone might have assumed it was the company's and/or viewed the new er' trails as a sign that it was ok to go back. btw, non-bogging guests & trailers parked along both sides of the road for many hundreds of feet in both directions drew much attention, if not disapproval, from the few neighbors he had along the sparsely populated stretch.

The power company, if no one else, came down on him to whatever extent and he stopped hosting.

Timster did you sign a ROW (right of way)? anyway to ask them to put in a gate?
I did and a gate was part of the agreement, however, gates do little to stop quads and motorcycles.

This is another aspect of the project that concerns me, not the power company but the subcontractors. This phase of the overall project is scheduled to start next year.

Just wondering did you ask the power company about quads on their row's? what they recommend?
When they come for the tree trimming (we just had ours done) any ash tree near the lines will be downed, emerald ash borer they are taking no chances. I have a barn filled with it and I am making parts for chairs now from it.

When I asked about the quads I was told the property was my responsibility and only after negotiations agreed to putting a gate on the access road. Same with the trees they will clear for the road and power line "there yours do what ever you want with them".

I wish they were more helpful, that has got to be frustrating. I dont think that they will allow you to create barriers with the downed trees.

Went through this very thing 5-6 years ago with our coop. They had to walk in, so they "blazed a trail, extra wide and left everything lay. Some large mature oaks that werent even in the ROW. thye paid me 5k for the damages. Said they had to pay several LO's for the same bunch of subs, (which they fired)
