I was given an old kubota TG 42" front mount snowblower . I would like to convert to a 3pt to fit behind a BX1800. Stopped at the dealer today to find out if it could be done. He said find out the rotation that the blower turned while it was mounted on the TG then check the rotation of the rear pto on the BX. He said that if they turned the same it would work. The problem is that I don't know anybody that has a TG with a blower to find out the rotation it turns. Has anybody tried this before?

Does the front blower run off the mid pto? If so, doesn't the mid pto turn at a higher rpm? I was thinking the gear box might not work off the rear 540 rpm pto speed.

If you turn the driven pulley (the pulley the engine belt turns) one revolution, follow the number of revolutions the next consecutive pulleys make, you should end up with the number of revolutions at the auger. Use nail polish as a marker.

Engines turn better than 3000 rpm, so your 540? PTO should allow you to remove alot of the middle pulleys to arrive at the correct speed. The real problem is the "U" jointed drive shaft.

A picture would help.

It could be a long and expensive process depending on your skill level, available tools & abiltiy to "scrounge" parts.

You might be able to sell it on ebay for a couple hundred bucks and buy a used 3 point blower.

To determine rotation:

line the blower up behind your tractor.

Looking at it from the rear, the chute should be on your left.

see pic here ford three point blower

The blower rotates clockwise when viewed standing behind the tractor.

Just look at your blower, you can see which way it must turn - the snow leaves the fins & straight out the chute. Back your tractor up to it, & see if the pto turns the same direction.

My B-i-L did this with a little blower for his Kubota 7100. I don't know the model of the blower - well, wait, he has the thing stored on my yard, I guess I could look it up!

But, anyhow, can be done, if the rotation & speed can be matched. Does your tractor have 1 or 2 speed pto?
