Gents I have ZERO knowledge w/ conveyors, although this may not be perfect, the question is, will it work. I have not seen it first hand to awnser any questions yet. I want the manufacturers name if possible to see if a cleated belt is available or if I can add cleats to this somehow.

If I put this at maybe a 35 degree angle or so, will split logs ride up it or will
they all slide to the bottom? I am hoping for better pictures today. I have a chance to pick this baby up for $5-$600.00, 110V .

By any chance does anyone have any idea who the manufacturer is?

Looks like a package carrier.

At a low angle, it will probably work as is. If the angle is really steep, you will need a lip or fingers to grab the bottom of the wood to send it up and over the edge.

I think I would put some smooth sides on it to keep the logs on.

J_J you da' man! HA!

If I pick this up I plan on adding some sides, maybe like 6" tall wings on a 45, at least at the start, so as to get logs to aline for the ride up...heck, maybe all the way up, depends. Maybe add a gravity drop extension at the end as well. Thats a good price. The owner says it is a really strong motor. I await more pics.

Wait till you see my new log splitter. WOW! It is on a truck headin' to Cal-A-for-ni-ahhhh.

what about using spray on bed liner on the belt, would that catch the wood?

depending on clearances and so on, one could use some elevator bolts, (like a flat head carriage bolt to bolt things to belting) and bolt on cleats, depending on clearances any thing from wood to flat iron (or make a skids the cleats can rid on under neath the unit) Elevator Bolts | Fastenal

I have a Hakki Pilke 1x37 with a conveyor, the belt has a piece of angle iron every 3-4 feet with out it you will have tho keep the conveyor fairly flat.

They are very cool!! I have only had the opportunity to run a couple cords through it so far but it's make wood cutting "fun".

Here is a you tube link, not mine but the same one!!

I would offer you should consider adding cleat of aluminum angle every so often rather than the bondable.

Nothing huge by any means, you don't want to tear up the belt.

I suggest some 1x1x1/8, and you pop rivet them in with a fneder washer under a regular washer to make the rivet work. You wouldn't need too much to get some serious angle for splits to travel, especially when you take JJ's advice and build centering sideboards and possibly a trough to drop them.

The absolute smallest penetration you can make through the belt fabric will be best. After all, whats a split weigh?

Good advice all and Thank You. I just got home from picking up a 16" wide belt X 14.5'+ Harris Conveyor, the one pictured. The unit is solid, CW and CCW rotation w/ functioning Potentiometer. I will get it spiffed up and post up pics of it and my new log splitter. The Log Splitter is very special...for now it is a secret...stay tuned.

A belt like that is on my list. Ive been thinking about a haybale conveyor, but belt would be better if i can find one.

Aluminium angle bolted to the belt will be necessary is there is any incline

Any conveyor shop worth its salt should be able to glue cleats to that belt in short order without damaging the integrity of the belt -- and be able to make up a replacement belt for the same or less than the OEM. Conveyor belting is a commodity and that looks like a pretty simple set up that does not require a lot of set up to run true. Putting metal or even wood cleats on it would probably also work but I would check with a local belting supplier first. -- JMHO

Well, since I found this conveyor I have since found a second, I didn't need or want 2 units but I could NOT pass up this deal. I found a brand spankin' new Hytrol 14' foldable conveyor for $1000.00 on Craigslist. I wrote the owner and told them I needed it like I needed a hole in the head and I offered them $500.00
for it. THEY TOOK THE OFFER. I was told they paid $6,500.00 for it new.... :licking:

OMG, I show up at a clothing wholesaler in a very large commercial building and the gal leads me into a side room. She told me it was about 8' long, well, I instantly saw it was FOLDED IN ABOUT HALF and indeed it was MUCH longer than 8' . I looke dit over and found it to be absolutely new, albeit about 15 years old. The gal told me her brother bought it for the workers and the workers rejected it for whatever reasons and it sat, unused and new. I could not get the cash out fast enough...Loaded it up w/ their forklift, two men and 2 boys into my truck and brought it home. This was just after I posted this original post.

Unbelievable...so...I have been pondering what to do w/ this. First I must make it easy to move about. So I found a personal Watercraft (JetSki) trailer for $225.00.
