I've never used one of those glue clamps, the best thing to do is make up a triangle square out of some 1.25 square tubing and use that to get square setups. It works on square or round tubing, and gets things lined up good with 2 clamps. Larger frames should get the corner to corner measurement and a clamp at the far end.

I have a pair of those branded as Irwin and you are correct - useless for wondering. I was very disappointed.

Might try them for tacking.

I致e had this single screw one about 20 years now but I知 sure theyæ±*e still available. It doesn稚 have the problem you mentioned.
