You too Drew ...

Thanks RS, nice to hear from you.

Duplicating Italy is inevitable now. Social distancing can only slow down the contagion curve, not cancel it.

Repeating the chart I posted a few pages back:

Now plot that for the regular flu.

What's regular flu got to do with this?

The CDC estimates that, on average, about 8% of the U.S. population gets sick with the flu each season.

Coronavirus Disease 219 vs. the Flu | Johns Hopkins Medicine

Deaths so far for the Coronavirus is 80. CDC estimated that influenza (flu) has resulted in between 9 million 45 million illnesses, between 140,000 810,000 hospitalizations and between 12,000 61,000 deaths annually since 2010. So about 120-6,100 deaths per year due to the flu.

H1N1 swine flu has killed as many as 17,000 Americans, including 1,800 children, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported

Where is the hysteria for the flu? Why weren't schools and business shut down for the swine flu?

Oh yes, the mainstream news hate Trump and want to see him blamed for the present day virus.

Quit feeding the hysteria!

if one wore a N95 mask or better, and used latex gloves, probably hard to catch this virus or the regular flu too.
So it can be avoided. Though I think any parent dealing with kids is going to have their hands full, as usual.
This is just another virus piled on top of existing annual flus. Just seems to be a new big dog in town...

Masks are not the styling statement lots of folks are used to. Unless you live in Mexico City or much of China.
I read that a big issue on the masks is being able to squeeze the area around the nose to get a better seal. Just like when you are wearing
a paint respirator, at least there you know you shouldn't be smelling much of anything, and if you are, you have a leak. No smell
to the virus...

I looked in mirror when wearing my black nylon mask, which I found comfortable, but too tight on me since it appears they sent
me a Medium when I needed something a bit larger. Velcro strap just engages at very end.
The edges all lay down closely to my face, so I feel pretty safe in it. I was worried I'd look like a bank robber, did get a few head turns
in Walmart.

Main street retail America must be taking a serious hit now.
Amazon has been quoting much longer delivery dates, even for regular two day stuff.
I've seen 5-7 days quoted at times.

Would it seem too draconian to demand store owners disinfect their major touch points several times a day?
And have a sign saying they abide by xyz health practices, like the score card the health dept gives
restaurants in our area. They are usually in the 90's, but I've seen some ones lower than that.
Many of us would shop more locally if we felt safer doing so. Now Billionaire Bezos just gets richer...

Yesterday while at the shipping store locally, I saw a big shipment of cased MRE's coming in the door.
I had never seen that before. Didn't know you could order civilian MRE's.
Stocking a shelter?

Campers and hikers use them a lot. I've seen them in several outdoors type stores like Dick's.

Oh, OK.

This is not the flu. The administration from the top down is addressing it as to what it is. A new contagion that has created a global pandemic.

Look beyond your political views.
