Hey Pat,
I was looking at the Fram dual filter again and noticed that the rated flow is up to 110 gallons per hour. That's 1.6 gallons per minute, or about 12 minutes to fill a 20 gallon tank. Isn't that kind of slow? Is that what I should expect for this level of filtering? It seems more suited for filtering fuel going directly into a motor. The pump I'm looking at does 15 gallons per minute.

Yes indeed, the Frams under discussion are for filtering fuel flow to an engine and will be a bit slow if used in a fueling operation. I have the clear plastic unit with water filter cartridge on my 300 gal gravity tank and it takes me about 2 min when the tank is nearly full to gravity about 10 gal. I used to get bored and frustrated waiting but got used to it and find somewhere else to go mentally while waiting... ommmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!

Pat, what brand of filter are you using? The only clear canister I've come across is this Goldenrod. Is that what you've got? I had assumed you were using something else, because you said you wouldn't want to use anything courser than 5 microns, but the Goldenrod water/particulate combination is only 15 microns.

ETD, I see from the photos that you have float gauge on the tank to tell you how much fuel you have left. Can you give me some information on it? Brand, where you got it, etc? I've been looking for one locally and haven't found one. I also searched Northern Tool and couldn't find anything there either.

You're not using any filter?

It came with the tank...

Go here: McMaster-Carr

And look on page 514 (type "page 514" in the search window and hit enter), near the bottom of the page. Direct-Reading Liquid Level Guages.

Do you keep the truck inside a locked building? ?
I'd be afraid to leave it set out inviting someone to steal fuel from the tank or even driving off with the truck and all.

Sorry for any confusion caused by my fuzzy head. It sure looks like I was not at all coherent or at least was surely not clear.

I actually don't recall the brand right now but it sure looks like the picture in your post. I reread my gibberish and see that I was not staying on topic well. My brain was wandering around at random between tank filters and fuel "consumption filters." My use of various Fram filters, both single canister and dual canister models was in between the fuel tank and engine. My use of Racor was between lift pump and injector pump on a Ford truck.

The filter specs on the Goldenrod are FINE for storage tank to vehicle fuel tank. Although totally NOT communicated properly my micron preference I stated is for the vehicular filter NOT the tank filter.

Sorry for getting in the way.

Pat

Not at all, Pat, I appreciate your input.
