Cost to build a pond??

We took the pics last fall (actually, it was in October - how'd you know that? /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif) from a new road we had built up to our ridge-top. We were going to build up top (a tremendous view) but had 2 sections of the road base collapse on 2 seperate occasions, so we're now building on the bottom land towards the back of our property.
The front of the house will overlook the pond.
Should be nice once we get-r-done.

Since my mother-in-law's birthday is in October and she's in Princeton, we've been there many, many times in that month, and will quite likely be there again this year at the end of October.

herdfan, from the pond location to the pad edge to edge was about 200 feet, so it was more efficient to dump right out of the scraper I guess......

It's not unusual to see a waterfall only in the middle of a wall like you have. Wouldn't that be a lot easier to do? And you know how fond I am of using old washing machine pumps. Maybe you could modify a couple of them to get what you need. Would be a cheaper way of covering more area. John

Well I finally got the pond quote from my builder.
I thought that he would be pretty reasonable since he is building a 6000 SF house for us.
Anyway, I knew it would be a big # when he prefaced his quote with "Have you ever built a pond before? There is a lot involved." (Of course I knew there is a lot to consider, thanks to TBN! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif)
To construct the pond and haul the fill, he wants $25K.
To pack and grade the fill around the house site, that's another $10K.
So, grand total is $35K.
I told him I had another quote of $18K and that there will be someone else doing this part of the job.
He seemed okay with that (after all, I'm paying the bills). This way, too, the builder can concentrate on the house and, hopefully, get it completed in a timely manner.
