It was discontinued because sales were low. They're still trying to figure out why they sold so few.
That pricing, and the fact they no longer have them reminds me of a true story that went the exact opposite - low price, not high. I worked in an auto dealer parts department in my younger days. Fellow walked in and asked, "How much is a water pump for a Volvo?" The parts manager replied, "$32.95". "That's robbery!" cried the customer. "JC Whitney sells them for $18!"
"Then buy it from JC Whitney," replied the manager.
"They're out of them," said the customer.
"Heck, that's no deal, then," said the manager, "when I'm out of them, I sell them for 10 bucks!"

I did. Yeah I actually bought one. I questioned the price, the lady told me it was a mistake and that it actually was prices at $9.19. So I bought one. It came in about 5 days and I just love it. It is worth the money because a long with the can came a check from the company for $1,909.81. You just come right over and I will give you what is left of the funds that I did not ask for but was given which is my understanding that if I recieve something in the mail that I did not ask fo ////////....... scratch all of that. Just come get the check, there is not much left, somewhere in the neighbor hood of, well let me see aaaahhhhh not much.

Anybody know where you can get decent diesel/kerosene/gasoline cans now days? Do they even exist any more? The last ones I bought you need a tool to open the vent and another one to get it closed... and it's child proof on top of that. First time I ever saw a child proof vent. Seems like they are getting worse and worse every year. I should've stocked up 10 years ago.

I see your from Minnesota. I got a realy nice plastic one from Mills Fleet Farm about six months ago. I really like it as the spout is ridgid instead of the flexible one that pretty much straightens out after you bend it and you have a mess all over. Can't remember how much I paid for it but here is a picture of it from the manufacture.

Hey, that is the one I got with the lousy child proof vent. Did you replace it with something better? If I could get one somewhere that fit and wasnt child proof I would be pretty much set. The rigid spout is good.
