From when I was a kid 1950's I remember a country song that had the line:
"Me and poppin Johnny, we're going make hay"
I can't think who did it, but we had a record of it.

Thanks for posting that "Poppin Johnny" link. I had never heard it before but it sure brought back some fond memories of back when I was a kid raking hay with the old JD "M" that my grandad bought to replace a team of horses. That tractor was a "popper" if there ever was one. It still "pops" now, and my dad will be using it in a few months to plow his garden.
