It's been an interest week+ for me. My grand daughters day care got closed down for covid last week.
My daughter had her and her daughter quick tested on Friday and they both came back negative. As she and her husband work
they asked if I would baby sit part of last week, I said I would so I babysat for Monday-Wednesday, the father had arranged
a day off for Thursday and was going to watch the girl that day. Thursday my daughter tested positive for covid, both
she and her husband had been vaccinated. As have I and my wife, me with some misgivings about the vaccine.

So, lemme get this straight .....

Knowing that the kids had been exposed, the parents went to work as normal (potentially exposing others) and sent the kids to their elderly parents, the kids' grandparents (potentially exposing them)? Is that correct?

Do we not see that this is how it's been spread around?

And in my case now both my Daughter and Son in Law have tested positive,
and both were vaccinated. Plus they are both young in their early 30's.

and yes there is considerable manipulation of the bed availability and available resources.

They should be fine LouNY. Severe illness with vaccinated, healthy individuals is very very rare. If you are old or immunocompromised (and vaccinated) you "can" still get very sick.

That's life around these parts as well. Lots of people have to work to make money. If the child is not old enough to be home alone arrangements have to be made. We did the same when our daughter got exposed at school. She is old enough to be home alone so we did not have to send her to the grandparents, but had it been 5 years earlier possibly. My wife and I both went to work. Our employers do not quarantine the "3rd tier" or whatever the terminology is for close contact of someone in close contact.

I expect they both will soon, they are young and healthy.
And the 3 year old doesn't even seem to fazed by it in the least, she tested positive last week.
No symptoms, no fussing, just happy and playing.

Often typical on college campuses...

My niece away at college tested positive... as did almost everyone in their dorm.

Test only happened because one girl was not feeling well and tested positive so everyone had to be tested.

When asked my niece said she felt fine... further questioning she said she did buy a box of Kleenex because she thought she had allergy...

All the girls on athletic scholarship so you and healthy and would have never known...

Consider that when 100% vaccination is reached in your county, then 100% of new cases will be vaccinated people.

My wife had it a few weeks ago. She was vaccinated and it felt like a really bad cold. I stayed in a hotel and away from people. After 5 days and 3 negative test I went back to work. I have not have the shots. I do take a lot of Vitamin C, zinc and D3.

We subscribe to the prudent but not fearful mentality. We all got our jabs after much consideration. I don't plan on getting a 3rd, the 2nd one put me down for 5 days. No fun. We try to do our best to stay out of large crowds but otherwise live our lives normally.

You have it completely incorrect.

They were advised that the child had been exposed,
they all 3 went and got tested, all 3 came back negative.
As the day care was closed, they asked if I would be willing to go up and babysit.
After some thought I did so.
Later on that week the PCR test results came back and the child was positive, the parents still negative.
Yes both parents went to work on the results of the quick test, something about having responsibilities to
their employers and desiring a paycheck.
I babysat at there home for the 3 days requested as the father had gotten Thursday off and the mother
had Friday off to do their own child care.
On Wednesday evening the mother was feeling off and got retested and came up positive on the quick test.
On Thursday evening I wasn't feeling the best but I waited till Friday evening to go get tested,
never heard back on the results of my quick test, got the results from my PCR test Sunday morning, negative.

So you and you half baked conclusions and accusations are completely of base.

What is potentially worse is that there is a developing body of evidence that those who previously had Covid and then get vaccinated may destroy their "N" protein recognition by doing so, ruining their previous nearly-perfect immunity. That we did not specifically prove that this did not happen before giving these shots to anyone with prior infection is outrageous. While the data on this is quite thin at present that there is a higher breakthrough rate in persons with prior infection than those who were infected but did not get vaccinated is what the data currently shows, which strongly implies that vaccination after infection actually screws you.

How do you know or even expect this?

This is not manipulation. Quite simply hospitals dont have the manpower to fill up the ICU with COVID patients and also treat every other health condition requiring intensive care. Many ICUs run at about 70% capacity anyway, that is good business. ICU staff are EXPENSIVE, and they need work to do. So most ICUs that are say 10 beds will try and keep 5-7 of those occupied at all times.

Keeping ourselves out of the ICU (if we can) frees up space and resources for all of those very sick non-COVID patients that need the care. The healthcare system has been severely strained over the past 18 months. To the point where quality of care has diminished, and people that need urgent (not emergency) treatment are being turned away. Think cancer patient with a tumor that has to wait a month for a bed to free up.... During surges this is what happens.

I really don't care about any other part of this except strain on the healthcare system...that's the threshold for all decisions. It should not be political.


@k0ua can you send me the link to N protein article. I would like to review the statistical method.

I agree with all this, however why are 10-20% of the hero's from the last ~20 months now being fired because they won't get the shot? That further strains the system creating now artificial shortages.

*Acknowledge not all of the above numbers are medical professionals it includes admin/janitors/whatever, if there's a better number I'll accept it.
