Often a single well placed shot will go unnoticed in urban areas.:D

Another option would be to sting them with .22 cal CB caps. They are a very quiet load. I have shot them with a long rifle and all I heard was the click of the firing pin and the thud of the squirrel hitting the ground.

You might slip one of those in behind his shoulder and hope he bleeds out.

I wouldn't have those coyotes around, it will cost you sooner or later.

fella that works with methat lives about 2 miles away was dressin a deer and they came within about 100 feet of them. My closest neighbor has a set up to shoot them by bush hoggin. They will come out in late evening to chase mice and he will shoot them from the tractor. If he idles the tractor they leave.I have another friend that lets his son bushhog or disc and when the come out in the feild he will shoot them. they learnfastso he will also use bait like a goat in a small portable cage. Youcan also use a rabbit distress tape to bring them into gun range.

I've befriended 2 red tail hawks from brushhogging. Since I usually brush hog my fields over a few days due to work. I end up seeing the hawks after that when I take the tractor into the fields, guess they're smarter than we think.

I started coyote hunting and have learned that if it's even slightly windy your wasting your time. Many of the prey callers out there have a puppy and kitten/cat sound to them.

I got interested in hunting for them after getting back into turkey hunting. Seems at times I was better at calling them in than a nice tom. Two years ago I called one in during spring gobbler and didn't know she was there until she was really close. This spring I'm thinking of setting up my turkey spread by one of my tree stands to give a better view.

The fine folks in nearby Houston, wander out my way to "run away" their unwanted house pets. As a result, we have some of the biggest coyotes around here that I've ever seen. They leave our dogs and cats alone though, because they're so well fed. When I hear them at night, I usually figure that it's coyote-speak for "here kitty, kitty"

I've seen people 'almost' hand feed coyotes waiting at the ferry at Boliver. They'd throw out food and a few minutes later a coyote would come pick it up. Some people...

You guys are scaring me! I've seen evidence of coyote at my land in western NC. They like to drop scat in the middle of trails or my gravel driveway. I read thats a territorial marking thing. I've never heard or seen one though.
We always have the dogs on leash when we take them out for their evening/after dark potty walks. Been carrying my .40 on the hip for that. Now I'm thinking I need to wear it all the time.:(

I got a predator call and tried it one night around 10 PM at a friend's farm last fall. His land is in a bowl surrounded by ridges on all sides. We set off the call and within seconds heard howling from all sides along those ridges.

That lasted about a minute and then it got really quiet. We had set the call up about 60 yards away and were setting in the open doorway of his pole barn. They must have made us because we didn't see anything and they never responded to the call again.

What's the trick gents? I saw one on my place during deer season and plan to thin that herd this spring.

I grew up in South Texas where they are a fact of life. They are more scared of you that you are of them. They come around houses because people leave food outside for pets. That practice will also attract other cute, furry things like coons, possums, field mice, feral cats and abandoned pets. I'd much rather have the coyotes, they're less destructive and keep down the smaller cute, furry populations. We've got two dogs along with 4-5 cats that live at the barn. I see coyotes in my hay fields all the time, but we've never had any problems with them. Between them and the cats the rodent population is almost nothing. As a result, I never see snakes, like my neighbors do. Coyotes serve a purpose....just leave them alone, don't feed them, and they'll leave you alone.
